yeah that too. I have nvidia now, I don't really feel any loyalty to either brand. Just whatever is best for the money at the time. Plus once nvidia's offerings come out it may ignite a pricing war.
both :) i figure by september nvidia will have an offering and prices will adjust.
Probably pick some up in september, in time for Rage.
Umm yes I am very aware of this, but the disc image itself can also be compressed. The data compression would be up to the developers as they'd decide where it is okay to lose data quality. But the disc image itself is an MS format. I can tell you it certainly isn't because the disc somehow has more space on it, because the DVD drives wouldn't be able to read it.
They can't change the width of the laser, so they can't change the density of the data.
@pedo:
Because it's not 2x 4.7. Some space is lost, some due to addressing and other to physical restrictions
This is more than likely just using compression. The disc still only holds a 8.4GB but the disk image is compressed.
Grasping at straws? Just because it's a different language/medium doesn't mean it doesn't apply. There are quite a few overlapping jobs in the movie industry and the gaming industry and I hope you aren't trying to tell me because its Swedish rather than Japanese, they are more prone to those kinds of "adjustments". Right now you're just arguing brand quality which doesn't prove the same issues don't exist.
And you really need to stop lum...
kz3 framerate is far more stable so even if Crysis 2 did look better it certainly performs worse.
@ Reibooi
Umm, the ones who are insulting your intelligence are those who decide you should listen to dubs rather than the original language, I thought I made that pretty clear. Rather, calling people who don't like dubs elitist idiots is rather ignorant of yourself.
Saying "being treated like an idiot" is pretty different from actually calling you an idiot.
To say you lose nothing doesn't make any sense. Just recently I wat...
OR maybe some people don't enjoy being treated like morons who can't read a bit of text on the bottom of the screen. Not to mention 99% of the time the dialog is "americanized" because apparently it's beyond english speakers to understand anything foreign.
Maybe you don't mind getting treated like an idiot but I can't stand it.
Awesome story about the DRM with Crysis Warhead: I was overclocking my CPU, and stress testing it with warhead, and after a few tests, I tried running it once more, and it gave an error saying I had installed the game on too many different computers. I was pretty confused for a while, then I realized - it was registering as a new PC because the speed of the CPU was different! It didn't even bother checking what model of CPU I was using.
When I complained about it to them...
He really upset the balance of the USER METACRITIC SCORE. Good thing we have internet sleuths to protect use from such scandals!
I mean, I get why people dislike this practice, and I don't particularly care for it either, but I also couldn't give a shit. Actual reviewers and review sites are far worse than that. Remember Gametrailer's GOTY a couple years back? MW2 on every platform? C'mon, let's get some perspective here
Pretty sure Kojima or Carmack could give a fuck what random people rank them
No kidding. Killzone 3 framerate is decent when you're playing operations with smaller teams, but even then the framerate will take a shit if too much is happening at once. Get into the 24 man matches and you're in for some chop. I don't think people realize how much of a performance impact just a couple of players can make.
ipad is also 3-4 times bigger
Well there is still rounding being done to render it onscreen, but technically it is doable.
Attached is a screen of a ray tracer i wrote 3-4 years ago for a university project, which is rendering perfect spheres.
Fun fact: It took about 5 seconds for a ~2ghz P4 to render one frame.
Edit: higher res http://i220.photobucket.com...
Well it's not. The 8.9 was the strongest earthquake we've had in 140 years.. which means there was an even stronger earthquake in the past.
At any rate, good on this guy for risking his life to save that girl
I guess 3 idiots would rather pay more money for games!
I don't think you understand how much work it is these days to pull off a convincing singleplayer, especially one for 15 hours. Games that can do that tend to be strictly MP. Comparing this to games in the past is just plain naive. Game development then and now are totally different beasts.
Not to mention games like Bioshock and Fallout deal with a lot more exploration and optional areas, and their gameplay style fits that kind of level design, whereas games like Killzone...
Don't worry bro, one day you'll be able to afford a PC that can play more than solitaire.
