"Remember, the more affluent demographics dip in PS3's favor. "

Really? Where did you pull that from? Your arse?

Based on the total spending for the industry and attach rates, I'd say you're pretty wrong. Also, all the "oh, my game machine plays movies" you'd think that the PS3 owner seems overly interested in saving $100 on a movie-player.... strange.

With Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center, I have unlimited PVR space.

I do this today. It rocks 1000%.

I watch all my TV through my Xbox 360 with Tuners in my PC. Im waiting for CableCARD hardware, then I'll be all set.

I dont want to put the media files on my Xbox 360 -- then how will I play them in the backyard? Or, in another room?

Media Server FTW.

I'll be getting it straight away when it arrives in the USA.

I've been watching what is available on the Beta IPTV here. People dont realize this is the end-game for the broadcast/PVR mindset.

Instead of recording the broadcast of ZXY-Content onto your PVR you its _all_alread_recorded_.

Its "select what you want and watch it". This has nothing to do with broadcast, it is the 100% perfect "Everything on demand" solution that we...

Hey there smart guy, care to mention an OS that has as many features, offers as much support, costs the same and is better than Microsoft Windows?

Oh yeah, there isnt one. Not because people havent tried -- OSX, GNU/Linux, MacOS, BeOS and on and on and on, none come close to the features and benefits.

Yes, there are always problems with software -- it just happens that Windows sucks the least.

Now, get lost troll.

@1.1

"What SHOULD have happened is MS or BT made their own USB add on Tuner box to complete the missing part for the Xbox 360"

Why would you want a 'console specific' add on for tuning? You can already buy Radio and TV tuners for your PC, then you use Windows Media Center for the PVR / live TV tuning.

CableCARD is also avaliable now (or soon).

Further these guys seem to be missing something fundemental about what this is g...

Yeah, starting 2008 with *ANOTHER* price cut.

Price cuts are meant to stimulate demand. Ergo, demand is low.

Can't agree more. Clearly, Microsoft is cherry-picking the best the NEW IPs the industry has to offer. Left 4 Dead is going to be massive.

I wish I could give you more bubbles. No truer words have been spoken on this website.

Why would I want to spend $35 for a scrap of plastic that collects dust?

6734d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

You know why I dont care? Because my PC is the media repository, not a disc, my Xbox 360 is the living-room front-end for it.

In short, Windows Media Center for the win.

Ive got a Radio Tuner and tv tuner in my PC, and almost 500 GB of HD space. Its a PVR - today. I can watch / listen to all my media from one storage-location, for instance, if i use Bearshare to dload MP3s, they are INSTANTLY available to my Xbox 360 without any hassle.

There ar...

No Fool, the *MPAA* wants blueray.

Why? Because HD-DVD ships with the HD Version and the DVD version.

Blue ray only works in Blue Ray players, they then sell more copies of discs.

Further, Computers are going to have HD-DVD players and not BlueRay players. They want to do everything they can to preserve their DRM, this is why they are so focused on "stand-alone" players.

Blue Ray is less customer friendly, but FAR FAR mor...

Two things;

1) Go buy a computer, see how many ALREADY come with HD-DVD Drives.
2) Windows Media Center.

No WONDER we keep seeing this Kotaku blog-posts.

Kotaku takes EVERY opportunity to backhand anything Microsoft (Xbox 360, Windows, whatever).

This:

"The weeks long connection troubles many Xbox Live users have experienced since the holidays was due"

THIS IS 100% INACCURATE. THIS IS 100% INACCURATE. THIS IS 100% INACCURATE. THIS IS 100% INACCURATE. THIS IS 100% INACCURATE.

Why the %$##% is every-single Kotaku ...

So the story is this:

Sony (and company) pay $500 Million to get a BlueRay exclusive studio.

What is Meus' response?

"If the rumour is true, there is no way the BDA would have willingly just offered them this amount of money unless they felt that Toshiba and Microsoft were planning to offer Warner their own sum of cash"

Or;

"Oh! Well, they did it sure, but only because the EVIL MICROSOFT was going to do ...

Why are stories about Sony paying off industry players "rumours", yet every single possible negative story about the Xbox 360, Microsoft or HD-DVD has 10-15 stories about every single "rumour" approved?

This site stinks of Sony fanboys.

EDIT:

Where the FCUK are the admins on this site?

HA! Nonsense.

Blue Ray is about ONE THING: DRM.

For the life of me, I dont understand how so many can be so foolish, buying into the MPAA Blueray scheme.

Laughable.

Wow, MK_Red, YOU submitted this article, how can you be so clueless?

From the article:

" It's my understanding that the system was simply overloaded. More people were logging in, signing up, and playing online than we expected. I mean we had 1 million more people than we anticipated sign up over the holidays--that's a lot of people. But the fact is that it was never really down. There were some intermittent problems, but it was never totally down, really. Th...

The Xbox 360 is the quietest of the generation.

Conclusion:
1. Xbox 360 – on average least noisy, generally level noise output
2. PS3 – Not noisy at first, but fairly noisy once on for a short while
3. Wii – Virtually no noise… until you play a game and then the noisiest of the bunch
