Well, considering that the USA is the largest and arguably most important market, this is indeed a big deal.
Developers are going to continue to want to bring great games to the Xbox 360. And that is what I (and other gamers) are interested in.
The Xbox 360 is the leader in the true-HD console market right now, without a doubt. And there is no reason that is going to change at all.

No. This isnt free. It is part of MGS4. Which you must pay for to play.
If you buy MGS4, will you be able to play online for-ever, without having to buy access credits? Or without having to buy the latest "expansion" (which serves as an access fee)?
This 'starter pack' for online play sounds very very suspect.

#1) The Beta is not free. It is a pre-release Demo, and it is included when you BUY MGS4. Buy MGS4 != Free.

for comparison purposes, the average-review for MGS 1/2/3 is less than Halo 1/2/3. So, if it is indeed "once in a lifetime" then what is Halo? Once in a two lifetimes?

If this had happened in the USA, it would have been a much bigger pay out.
The sizes of compensation are enourmous here, and IMO, not justified. But it does seem like they got off very easy.

XNA Game Studio has been out for some time. And, the XNA Community is going to publish games, directly from the producers themselves.
And, Indy developers are also working on XBLA. Its wrong to say "relies much more heavily on ports and the repackaging of existing titles"
Because we are getting *BOTH*. MS is publishing about 1.5 games per week, and they can be any classic, indy-developed new-IP, ports...
This is a pretty interesting review, it focuses on the co-op aspects of the game. Its very interesting, and the review makes me think I may pick-up this title.

Sheesh. The guy said he's getting the game for Xbox 360. Of *course* he is.
A) The Xbox 360 controller is superior for games of this type (3d games).
B) The game has a multi-player component; Xbox LIVE is twice the size, and is better suited for online-gaming, community, friends managment and messaging.

I concur w/r/t SMG. By nephews got a Wii for Xmass, so I thought "Oh, ill get them SMG, its supposed to be the best game of the year, and the best title on Wii".
I couldnt believe it. It was just more of the same. I felt like I was playing a N64 game, totally unoriginal.
And, to top it off, the two kids (boy of 8 and girl of 11) didnt like it at all, they just wanted to play Wii Sports.

Uhm, no. We've been told that the colour are better on Xbox 360. And, knowing that you'll only get the whole GTAIV experience on Xbox 360 with the Exclusive Expansions, there isnt much debate. The Xbox 360 is superior.
Oh, and becuase LIVE makes PSN look like CompuServe, there really isnt any debate about this fact.

A) The Xbox 360 underwent major hardware revision in mid-2007 to fix the heat issue.
B) Every Xbox 360 owner gets a no-hassle, free repair.
C) You == EPIC FAIL.
1. Xbox 360 – on average least noisy, generally level noise output
2. PS3 – Not noisy at first, but fairly noisy once on for a short while
3. Wii – Virtually no noise… until you play a game and then the noisiest of the bunch

Tom's hardware is a very respected site, deal with it cheerleaders. This is a worthwhile preview opinion -- just as any other. These reports are all against N4G guidelines. Ridiculous.
