The USA is by-far the largest market. Larger than all of Europe. Far larger than Japan.
For everyone who says "Xbox 360 is dead in Japan, ha ha ha", they need to give their head a shake; it is VASTLY worse for Sony that they are barely holding on in the USA. Without a strong position in the USA market, the PS3 will fail.
And it looks like that is going to happen... it's do or die for PS3 in 2008.

Too many terrific Xbox 360 titles, too little time! As you can see by this list... sheesh.
The Xbox 360 has a great line-up for 2008. Lets wait until the end of the year and see how well both platforms do... there are sure to be disappointments on both sides.
BUT, lets see what the GotY lists say, and more importantly lets see what the Metacritic scores say about the two 2008 Libraries.
I'd be willing to wager money that the Xbox 360 will continue to dominate... There may be good reasons (PS3's sequals) why the PS3 will improve, but there is ZERO reas...

Guess what, Shooters sell well on all platforms.
#1) Killzone 1 was mediocre at best, your hopes for KZ2 is irrational.
#2) Gears of War was vastly longer than you wish it was.
#3) Gears of War 2 will outsell *every* PS3 game sold to the date of its release. Mark my words. Write it down. GeoW2 may not sell as well as Halo 3, but its going to be very very big.

By Mid 2009, the Xbox 360 should be around 40 Million-ish consoles sold (assuming about 12-15 Million per year...)
Whatever, GeoW sold 5 Million -- It will be VASTLY bigger hit, GeoW was a bit of a Sleeper in some sense, a very big hit for a fresh IP because it was a terrific game... the expectations and anticipation for GeoW 2 is massive.
It will destroy anything released on any other console - I hope they line it up against MGS4.

The Xbox 360 would have to sell ZERO CONSOLES in 2008 while the PS3 sells MORE THAN TWICE its present rate in order to be "a couple 100k behind" this year.
