Sony and Apple make a lot more sense. Sony's RIAA and MPAA divisions are a big part of their business.

MS has repeatedly stayed out of the Media Contenet creation. MS is a software and technology firm, while Sony is a electronics and media firm.

They are too different. Its an interesting idea to consider -- but this article is littered with inaccuracies and trolls.

This generation of consoles brings so much opportunity to developers. There are so many genre-busting things that can be done now.

Whole new types of gameplay can be built using LIVE (and PSN). Look at Burnout Paradise for instance. I havent played the game, but I was playing the Demo and thought "hey, this is just a new style of gameplay".

The *interactivity* of players in constructed worlds creates new genres in and of themselves.

I ...

What I'd like to see with Mass Effect 2 is some MMO play. Sure, this is a bit off topic, but what I was thiking was this:

When you travel to a new System, you'll be able to see other people there in real time. When you land on a planet, you'd find them there (if they sent a landing party).

Being that you're all on the Normandy and all Cpt. Sheppard, I dont think they'd make such a change. But the game world and art direction are great. Mass Effect would be a ...

Im not sure what you mean. Actually, BioWare has said that you'll be able to continue with your Character into the sequels. This DLC will probably add new planets, new NPCs and scenarios.

The content will just become part of the universe (id imagine). Sure this is speculation, but with the nature of the game being what it is, I'd say there is no other conclusion.

And the heat keeps coming. As we saw on the Super Bowl commercial, you can buy a $150 stand-alone player at Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others -- its no surprise that MS would price this unit relative to that.

The benefits to consumers is compelling;

HD-DVD players upscale your current libraries.
HD-DVD discs play on your current players (but at standard DVD quality).
HD-DVDs cost less to make and cost less for the player.

Nah. The Xbox 360 has more than enough killer-apps for this year.

I havent even gotten through half the games I have now. I've got weeks of Lost Odyssey ahead... and, I've got three friends who just bought Xbox 360 for the sole purpose of playing EA NHL08 over LIVE every night.

I know it is popular for non-Xbox 360 owners to infer that Xbox 360 owners shouldnt be happy, I can assure you, I've got more games than time... and 2008 will prove to be worse in that re...

"Trolling" has been alive and well in the mass media for a long long time.

Its not just here on the interweb where these trolls exist.

While I agree with you that Halo is a tough act to follow, Bungie has been making great games for a long time.

There are very few development houses that have had as much sustained success as Bungie. Yes, Halo's a very high-mark in the history of gaming - but Bungie has a good chance of keeping up their good work.

What choke-hold? You're projecting your irrational hate for MSFT onto Bungie.

Please be irrational somewhere else.

The Halo Game Universe -- "The Story -- is rich and very well concieved. The game was revered for its story, there have been books written set in this universe.

The games were praised for the story. If you've played the Halo Series, you would know this.

Perhaps its not your favorite genre; maybe you like Westerns? But no one can claim that Halo isnt a great story (as well as one of the best series of games in history).

But, there are factual errors in that comment.

"Microsoft has successfully made the Xbox line a permanent part of the gaming industry."
MS has been part of the game industry for 20 years. The PC has always been a leading game platform.

"With the era of Windows-monopolized computing drawing to a close"
What? Windows XP is the largest used OS on the planet. Windows Vista the second. Vista has more marketshare than GNU/Linux and...

I hope they make GeoW a prequel. Something to show the decline and fall of the GeoW world. The story was very good and the story-telling was very rich, I hope they give us backstory.

Precisely. They can make *more* money by investing their own cash and borrowing the $44B.

Its called Business.

You do know you're arguing against a totally fabricated "idea". MS hasnt said anything about GeoW 2 nor has Epic... and here you are to assault MS for "pushing them" and being "greedy basterds(sic)"?

Huh?

6707d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

And, your quote is originally from the gamespot speculation. Epic has since said "we have not announced GeoW 2".

Here on N4G, the submitter changes the title from "Gears of War 2 officially confirmed?" to "it's certainly possible for Gears of War 2 to slip until 2009"

How does this get approved?

I have a CS degree, and work in IT for a fortune 5 firm.

We have had nothing but success with Vista. It performed so well in our beta-test facilities that we pulled the world-wide distribution ahead by 6 months.

It has saved us incredible amounts of money and time. Users dont appreciate what Vista is "about". It is a major rewrite of the OS from the ground up, a new rendering stack, new network stack, new security methodology and on and on.

The international computing industry is moving to Vista. So will the games. DX10 offers many benefits. DX10 cards are not common. When the cards become more common (you know, when the MARKETPLACE develops) the DX10 games will start coming.

This is how technology works, its a constant march forward, to progress.

Vista will be as good a gaming platform as XP, or 95/98 was before.

It is the way it has *always* been - it is the way it remains toda...

Early previews of the game have raved about how well the controls work.

MS is really responsible for finally breaking the "FPS belongs on PC" myth (together with Goldeneye, but Halo finally put it to rest...). And, I think they know that there is *a lot* rideing on its first non-trilogy Halo title *and* bringing a RTS to the console.

From early impressions, they've got a hit on their hands. Seeing the videos makes me agree.

In what fantasy land is the PS3 version "better"? Every comparison we've seen shows that it looks better on Xbox 360.

Are you on drugs?

""though is a very small HD and for anyone who is looking to store demos, music, video"

Who are these people who keep video and music *on their console*? Like most people, that stuff comes from the internet -- if it didnt, you'd have bought a disc.

99% of resaonable people must know that keeping your data on a PC and simply playing it on the console is a vastly superior option.

My PC allows all my devices to play my music / videos (...
