I remember during the height of the Napster furor, a Sony executive (Sony Pictures Entertainment US senior VP Steve Heckler) came along and said (direct quote):

"The [music] industry will take whatever steps it needs to protect itself and protect its revenue streams..It will not lose that revenue stream, no matter what."

"Sony is going to take aggressive steps to stop this. We will develop technology that transcends the individual user. We will fir...

I loved the original. This is a highly anticipated sequel. Worth a serious look.

Im not a great fan of RTS, but being that its in the Halo universe, I look forward to this title.

What is fun about these games will be the RTS over LIVE.

Attention Apologists:

This kind of thing does in fact happen to devices of this type.

And, this isnt the first time a PSP has exploded. It wont be the last.

Here's another story:

From Metacritic: Gears of War (2006) 94

From vgchartz (for lack of a better source): 4.94 Million to a market of 18-20 Million consoles.

From wikipedia:
"game received a multitude of awards at E3 even before the game's release...preorder sales were second only to Halo 2 in the studio's history...first Xbox or Xbox 360 game to sell out and reach the top ten charts in Japan...received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, maintaining an averag...

I agree totally. But, for another reason...

Using a number scale, tells you exactly what you need to know. The score is relative to the scale -- ie, the numerator is relative to the denominator. Without the "bottom" part of the scale, the scale has no meaning.

This is a terrible policy. Every school system uses different letter grading.

In ontario, Canada, they dont give "F"s, they give E. There is no "+" or "...

I dont think many people are going fire this up by themselves.

For $99? Im sure my freinds will get a good laugh out of it. I have parties, and people end up playing Rock Band (and Scene It? and Viva Pinata Party Animals...)

Whats the issue? Its funny as heck IMHO and well worth $100.

This is why I dont have very long term hopes for Gamestop (the corporation).

They really survive on software sales, and used software sales at that.

How long until the entire videogame industry goes to Digital Distribution?

People are going to be able to download (and, possibly burn) their discs themselves.

Steam is just proving that PC users dont want to be bothered with driving to Gamestop or Waiting for Discs in the mail.

Try the Canadian Broadcasting Company; http://www.cbc.ca

Canada is rated close to the top of the world in Press Freedom, and the CBC is as well respected a news organization as exists on the planet (including BBC (which, is also respected)).

Fox news is a fcuking national disgrace. CNN is orders of magnitude more worthwhile, capable and respected than Faux News.

Bringing the two up in the same senten...

"Fox has little responsibility for the Mass Effect controversy either.."

You == Zero credibility.

Did you watch that piece? Clearly, Fox setup the framing and delivered exactly the message they intended. It was produced by Fox to say *exactly* what was said.

The commentators were clearly coached to stick to their theme, and they did. The news-scrolls, on-screen titles and news-reading-talking-heads all said the most ridiculous things (...

The word you're looking for is Causality.

Causality:
"quality of causing effect: the action that causes an effect, or the ability to cause an effect"

Or, do videogames *cause* depression? That is the question. Why? Because CORRELATION does not equal CAUSALITY.

Its a simple element of logic. And, Fox's audience, being the most simple and ignorant people in the nation, dont understand that Fox is filling them up with stupidity. ...

No, this is proof MS is moving its product relative to the Superbowl ad-announced $150 Toshiba player.

You are drawing a conclusion that justifies and reenforces your false world-view.

And, this website is famous for doing the same. It is a totally false idea.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Sakaguchi-san is a God in JRPG circles. His games are stellar, and he's surrounded himself with so many people of respect.

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are great games, and there is no small portion of this website that have a direct and imminent need to make sure they cannot be considered successful.

Its part of the Console Combat that takes place here.

Clearly, a JRPG like Lost Odyssey is not for everyon...

Yes, currently the average is 7.2/10 on metacritic.

I think it's going to boil down to this: JRPG is not a genre well loved in the west. These reviewers, being english speaking (duh) would have (generally) western tastes.

There are some people who just dont go for JRPG.

When discussing Lost Odyssey (or Blue Dragon or Eternal Sonata), I think it is wise to mention Famitsu's scores. They know JRPG better than the English speaking reviewers.
