Technology speaks volumes, though.
I'm hoping BF3 does well enough that other studios begin to mimic the quality of BF3 games rather than the asinine, no-brainer, run-n-gun mechanics of CoD.
You're absolutely right.
In my opinion only Rockstar has really pushed the envelop this gen, everything else has basically been a graphical upgraded PS2 or Xbox sequel. Heck, even Gears of War is just a shiny version of Killswitch, which is a real shame.
What bothers me is that so many pubs and devs are now trying to mimic CoD with quick cash-in shooters (i.e., killstreaks, fast-paced multiplayer, no-brainer, near-on-rails single-player, idiot AI, big set pieces, etc.,)
The problem is that the shooter genre under the leadership of CoD has gone completely backwards and even Crysis 2 dumped all its good features to be more like a CoD clone, which was a shame.
You're right that the CoD brand is what's ...
The poor man's 20gb Xbox 360 hard drive says hello.
It's rare PC games cost more than $49.99 at launch, so technically console gaming is more expensive when it comes to software.
You're right about the exclusives, though, they're well worth it.
I think consoles, this generation, have changed the bar and I find it's more expensive to maintain them than my PC (i.e., buying additional storage drives for the 360, XBL fees, controllers dying every few months, etc.)
Wow, what an ignorant statement, dude.
How much did you pay for your PS3? I paid $350 for my PC and I can run Just Cause 2, GTA IV and every other game out there on pretty much the max settings. I bought a 360 controller and use Xpadder for games that don't support gamepads.
You don't need $1000 like the silly myth states to have a high-end gaming machine.
The leap in gameplay does warrant new consoles.
The only next gen game we've had ALL this generation is GTA IV....everything else was basically a visual upgrade over the previous gen's outings (i.e., RE5, Halo Reach, KillZone 2-3, etc.,)
L.A. Noire tried something new with the tech but gameplay wise it was the same stuff we've been doing since Police Quest back in 1995.
You mean like having to buy new hard drives to play online games for the Xbox 360 and PS3?
So mining above your head is a no-no because lava might melt your face off?
Well, if that's the only danger that's not that bad at all. And here it is I was thinking mining above your head would cause a complete shaft collapse or some horrible thing like that. Ha!
Actually, other than Mortal Online (which is crap) I can't think of another MMO game out there even remotely similar to The Elder Scrolls. Most MMORPGS are grind-heavy, anime-style games with linear character classes and stories.
If they kept everything the same from Skyrim (except for a few restrictions here and there) and just opened up the world for multiple players, it would be pretty tight as an MMO.
No, no, no...you did it all wrong. You have to do it like this...

I can't believe you got so many disagrees. Talk about naive noobs.
You're absolutely right, though, these guys are bitter rivals the way Vince McMahon and Ted Turner were at each other's throats during the infamous "Monday Night Wars".
I'm not sure where gamers get off thinking that it's all peaches and cream when there is litterally billions of dollars at stake and hundreds of millions of dollars of marketing being poured into ...
Ah, I was looking forward to those other baseball games that you don't play in the browser. Ah well.
It's showing off your pimping gear? Kicking the arse of loud-mouth braggers and watching them kneel beneath your might?
How about joining up with friends in a guild and kicking the crap out of any and everyone?
MMOs are cool for the same reason people like competitive FPS games and cooperative TPS games. It's like combining a little bit of each genre to make up for something exciting (when done right).
Norris is the one who always does thos ridiculously over-the-top press releases, right?
You were baited by the troll.
Troll: 1
You : 0
Borderlands is one of the only few original FPS out there, he was just pulling your leg.
I like physical copies too...but right now no one beats Steam when it comes to prices.
Why do people keep saying leave out co-op? How about they just make the game harder or, I don't know, you just CHOOSE to play by yourself? Co-op really has nothing to do with the horror factor...that all boils down to the game director and the way the levels and enemies are setup.
Then why aren't people hating on Uncharted and Gears like they are CoD?
Do you guys even read WHAT the hate is about?
You probably didn't even know you could play Battlefield 3 online. Good gosh you kids are so ignorant these days it makes me feel sorry for the generation to come.
Please go look up the Frostbite 2.0 news and upgrades and what Battlefield 3 will have FOR GAMEPLAY and compare it to what will be in Modern Warfare 3. You...
"EA has earned more respect then Milktivision has."
Fixed that up for you.
