"It's a virtual trading place where they can use their version of an electronic wallet to purchase games, and download new content, demos and trailers."

See it says purchase games and to download new content demo's and trailers. If it actually ment you had to pay for demo's and trailers it would have been wriitten like this....

especially when it was looking like they would have 15 or less. Here are the games I would definately get if I could.

- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Call of Duty 3
- EA Sports™ Fight Night Round 3
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour® 07
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas
- Untold Legends™ Dark Kingdom™

Totally understand anyone who has a 360 saying they are not that impressed since many ...

However for that choice you ultimately pay more to not even equal what the PS3 delivers.

A contact at Sony let us know that the controller does not need to be paired to the console with the USB charging cable; you can pair it by simply pressing the red PlayStation button. They did confirm that the battery would not be replaceable, much like the iPod's; however, how many of us can't remove a couple of screws and get a new battery off eBay?

Hmm I can surf the web with the PS3 but its not online focused. Can I surf the web with my TV-DVD-VCR combo or for that matter XBOX 360? Nope.

As to this comment of yours...

"By X-mas i'll have 7 online games i'm not going to pay 7 different devs. What a mess."

While you will be paying MS for your online game play the people who buy a PS3 will not have to pay anything.

You all act like if you have to put your pay info int...

You jump to so many incorrect conclusions. First Sony has stated that gameplay will be free online. Only MMO type games will charge a fee just as they do for XBL.

When he is talking about the ability to pay he was talking about publishers content that would be sold online such as movie, music, and could be additional game content etc.

You can have a open system and still require game developers to provided basic online game play free to gamers.

To me wh...

Why are you guys arguing? Regardless of if you believe the extra space is needed or not at least its their for developers to take advantage of.

To a gamer, does it matter what size disc your game comes on? As long as a PS3 game costs the same as a XBox 360 game and it has at least the same amount of gameplay and image quality, who cares?

This definately answers alot of questions people had about what the multiplayer was going to be like. Insomniac has done a fantastic job of giving players alot of different options and play styles for online play. This has become a definate must have for me.

Ozymandias says the following in his Blog.

"Another challenge is that Xfire is now effectively middleware—and that's not free. Had Sony purchased and integrated Xfire into their SDK I could see the effective cost of integration being 'free' to publishers. Now, unfortunately, each and every publisher has to look at their budget and decide whether adding a second online service/friends list/presence is worth it. I have no idea what Xfire's licensing costs are, but whatever i...

See he said

"I have no idea what Xfire's licensing costs are"

He does not know so he is specualting that there is a cost. Since he tells you he has no idea, why would you take his word over someone that actual does know and tells you there is no cost?

The Playstation network only works with other people who have a PS3. What Xfire does is allow communication between the PC3 and PC gamers. SOE has several MMO games in development that will be playable on either a PS3 or PC so they needed something that would allow people to communicate between the 2 platforms.

However your premise that paying a fee stops this kind of behavior is incorrect as I see it happen in MMO games where one has to create an account and pay money. So the notion that paying a fee stops this is questionable. I think it definately helps but does not eliminate it.

Since Sony created the PS3 I would think they would have a way to uniquely identify each and every PS3 so if one did something offensive and required banning they could ban from the machine ID itself rather ...

Since its free for PC gamers not sure why you think it would cost money for PS3 users. Currently Xfire has over 5 million registered users you can check it out here.

Lets look at this from a different angle.

- First I do not think this is the main focus of Sony's PlayStation Network. Why do I think this? Well read what the guy wrote in the article. It's definately not something most developers are going to take advatage of and is why SCE did not buy Xfire and include in thier SDK. Why buy it if you feel most of your developers will not take advantage of it?

This then brings up the question of why would a developer want to use thi...
