Its a new AMD APU designed only for consoles. Its a new console. Its using a new system of 8GB unified Ram.

Its not a new PC!

Its a massive improvement on the PS3 and its a great system for the money.

As a PC user since the 88 86 286 386 era and a builder of my own quad-core PC with dual GPUs in Crossfire I am excited about any new tech. Be it Smartphone, Tablet or Gaming Console.

I am blown away by what the PS4 is offering ...

It makes a lot of sense to get your current generation developers to test and tweak your new hardware. I always assumed Sony just did their thing and that was it. I guess not.

I will be surprised if Sony did not get feedback from others though. I would of thought the 4 main uses for a controller are:

a) climbing
b) hand to hand combat
c) driving
d) shooting

Naughty Dog develop games for climbing and hand to hand combat...

That's a load of crap!

As a new PS Vita owner none of this interests me at the moment. I am guessing however that the unused port will link to the PS4 in one way or another.

Now that interests me!

I tried remote play on my PSP when I got my PS3 in 2009. The menus displayed but not brilliantly. Games played but not very clear. The only thing that really impressed me about remote play was when watching HD trailers from the PS3.

I could watch a HD trailer from my PSP - cool. But actual XMB menus and games - no!

I have just bought a PS Vita and am sorry to say the remote play looks just as bad. That's why I am excited by the PS4 - PS Vita relationship....

I have to hold my hands up and admit I did not believe the next-gen consoles would be this powerful. We have AMD to thank for that. They make great APUs. Intel integrated graphics are woeful.

And because all these parts are closely integrated we will get better performance than it looks on paper.

If what we all expect is true from MS (same CPU from AMD and a BluRay drive) then great times are ahead for those multi platform games at last!

4GB...

Let's hope so.

Remote play using PSP or PS Vita sucks. There is too much lag and the screen looks very blurry.

I always liked the idea but have never been impressed. Watching trailers was pretty cool but gaming wise - no way.

If all PS4 games can be played on the PS Vita it needs to use better tech than on the PS3. I have heard that a dedicated chip is on the PS4 for the Vita connection. We live in hope...

Everything we hear about the new PS4 is positive from developers. This can only be a good thing. I'm sure Sony & MS have been tough on developers in the past.

I was sceptical about what the next-gen could bring but so far PS4 news has been a breath of fresh air to gaming. Maybe this is due to no Xbox 720 info.

Lets hope that when MS do announce their plans we still maintain this new fresh positive vibe about games and developers.

I will be getting a PS4 for the games. The PS4 specs and potential are amazing.

Will I get an Xbox 720 - depends on what they offer. I have a feeling if I get one it won't be for the games but for all the other stuff it offers.

I may have a PS2, PS3 PSP and PS Vita but if Xbox 720 has great exclusives (like Sony does) I will buy one in an instance.

The 360 had nothing for me. Halo/Gears is not enough for a whole generation. I want the be...

I don't care whether its 30-40-50-60-200 fps. Quality is quality.

Its about graphics, environments, atmosphere, gameplay, music, etc. The total package. I love Kojima, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Insomniac, Square Enix (when they were good) and any company that takes pride in its games and values quality.

When you play a great game, you play a great game! Seems PS4 is about the Games this time around. I hope MS is the same too...

The 8gb GDDR5 Ram is amazing.

I agree the CPU would seem to be the slowest component. But this ain't a PC. I have a quad-core AMD and most software even today is not optimised for true multi-core PC performance.

But consoles are different. Developers have their hardware set in stone so it is much easier to get the most out of them. Just look how some game companies got amazing results this generation.

I am so excited to see how developer...

Killzone are always amazing games. Killzone 2 & 3 really pushed the bar with PS3.

I don't care whether its 30-40-50-60-200 fps. Quality is quality and Guerrilla Games make quality games.

Tell us something we don't know.

MS & Sony CPU being the same is great for multi platform games. Especially as MS will use Bluray for game storage at least (rumours are you can't watch films or play game off Bluray in Xbox 720 - just install onto HDD - less licence cost to Sony).

Imagine how much greater some of the past games could of been without the DVD limit of 8GB.

Sony may have stronger overall power which is great for exclu...

Developers get 4GB and I would imagine the system & share & background downloading, etc. get the other 4GB. That is a lot of Ram for adding many future features.

A smart move. I heard they were toying with 4GB or 8GB. The MS rumours of at least 8GB must of swayed Sony's final decision. It seemed a key point that they made in their Feb reveal.

The early reveal and 8GB Ram were to cut MS off at the pass. And it seems to have rocked MS. And now we he...

Do you really want to know what PS+ most nagging problem is?

As a subscriber I'll tell you. The following problem occurs often for me as I tend to buy 3 months at a time:

Unless you are connected online (new XBox 720) any older game you downloaded before your new subscription will not start. This only happens once each time. When you play the game again it updates on the PS3 how many new days your PS+ has left.

But to update it has to con...

We need a strong PS4 and XBox 720 for all gamers to benefit. I am so excited for all the new features of the PS4 and the stiff competition from Microsoft has helped.

o Play PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 games from the cloud.
o Try new games for free on the cloud.
o Share my finest gaming moments with Share Button.
o Start to download a game and start playing in minutes.
o etc.

Can't wait to see what Microsoft can offer. Happy Days!

Microsoft are NOT playing it cool with their silence.

They are playing catch up with Sony's hardware. Let's face it Sony caught everyone off guard with their early announcement. Great move!

Microsoft's hardware must not of been as good. 66% of Sony's if the rumours are to be believed. That's a massive lead to give your competitor.

Would be great for multi platform games. Especially if they do adopt a Bluray drive. No more limited releases so not to upset Microsoft.

I believe Sony originally planned to use 4GB Unified ram but upped it when it heard the Microsoft rumours - great idea that has been well accepted by developers.

I believe Microsoft were massively caught out with the Sony specs once revealed and have been busy getting up to speed. Just hope they don't rush out their hard...

You can own both new consoles if you wish!

Sony are for once on the ball with their PS4 strategy. They stole a massive advantage with their early announcement that caught everyone off guard.

We know the PS4 specs.
We know the PS4 controller.
We see the PS4 tech demos.

Did Microsoft get spooked? Their silence suggests they don't have the hardware fire power to compete so are trying to package their media integration suite t...

What a plonker that guy is. He says MS have won already but sits squirming for the duration while the other guys talk about games, developers and the current buzz for PS4.

He makes himself look foolish. I was wondering by the end who was the expert analyst?

Let's wait and see when all the cards are on the table. Then we can all choose what we want from what is offered.

The biggest downside for MS at the moment is that there is a great bu...
