Its a gimmick. Its expensive. You will love it for a short while but may get tired of it quickly.
It will not happen as mainstream. Buts its nice to see different ways to game and to enhance the experience.
They should concentrate on announcing their hardware first though! Baby steps.. Is this a distraction? I hope not. But I'm all for innovation. Let's see what else comes from this in the next few years.
Can't wait - Let the guessing begin WITH ME!
I think Sony & the PS4 reveal in Feb knocked MS for Six. Let's see what they have come back with!
I love many of the new PS4 features. They are amazing. Wow! What can the 720 bring? I cannot wait to see what they are going to do for us gamers.
The PS4 is focusing on gaming & developers. I really hope we can say the same for the 720. Let's be positive...
It would be a Crap port!!
Are you guys serious? Have we learnt nothing from last time around? All the hype and just a load of gas (well drive here, drive there, blah, blah).
GTA 4 was a let down. Why? Because it was developed for the lowest storage possible = DVD. What could/would they have done if they did a BluRay/HDD version last time?
Now we are moving on with loads more Ram and BluRay on both PS4 and 720 and you guys want a crappy port? ...
For the love of gamimg...
If someone buys a 360 'cause their mates have one and they want to play the same games on-line together then that person has no choice but to pay the subscription.
If all consoles charged that would be fair enough. But it gives the gaming industry a bad name when just one of them do it. Because they don't need to!
Unless it pays for all the advertising and the constant sales. If you got your 360 cheap then yo...
I agree. I pay for my internet, I pay for a game that has a short single-player but larger multi-player why then should I pay to play on line. If Sony did this I would only buy/play Single-Player games!
I waited over a year to join PS+ and only joined because they offered a great Instant Games Collection.
I don't know why Sony have been so generous because I have downloaded many AAA games and now some awesome Vita games for the price of one new game.
I agree. Without competition from MS Sony would not of made so many great exclusives for PS3. Without Sony MS would not have massive advertising and Xbox 360 sales - cause they wouldn't need them.
Competition is great for all consoles. That said, I believe the Gold will stay the same and everyone else will get free game verification access through the internet. Even MS are not dumb enough to charge Everyone an annual subscription to play even single player games.

3 years ago most PCs were Dual-core. Most PCs had 2GB Ram. I know because I built my own Quad-core 4GB 2 years ago and the common consensus was you could run Win 7 with 2GB.
I have since gone to 12GB (virtual machines, media, etc.) and dual GPUs.
There are always the odd few super systems but MOST PCs did not have 8-cores and 8GB GDDR5 Ram. Get it right.
PC gaming at best can offer multi-platform games with super graphics. But because all sys...
Just sorting out my sleeping bag right now. The only way to make sure I get one will be to join the launch day queues.
The Taxi home at 1-2 in the morning will be so sweet....
Correct. I too will buy the best console that meets my needs. I may even end up getting both if the variety is there.
I do have a dislike for Microsoft because of their ways but I still have Windows 7 as well as Ubuntu on my desktop.
I bought a PS3 because of a 15-minute trailer I saw for MGS 4 in the local game shop and have never looked back. I didn't want to pay for a machine that had no wifi, HDD or HD/Bluray player built in and not being a great onli...
I still have my PS2 which I play on. PS3 was such a leap in graphics and storage (BluRay and HDD) so BC never bothered me that much.
The best thing about the PS3 for longevity is the ability to put in almost any size laptop drive or SSD. I will be buying a PS4 THIS year (I hope) but will still play my PS3 for many years yet.
There have been some amazing games this gen. They may start to look a little dated in a couple of years when we are getting used to next...
It's actually an honest response. I was also blown away with what the PS4 has to offer. I never expected such a power house and Sony to adopt new AMD APU tech.
The extra chip for streaming and the unified GDDR5 are exciting additions. I am a PC man at heart and love modern tech. I am well impressed by the forward thinking of Sony.
Who knows. Media/Gaming PCs and Servers of the future may also introduce unified GDDR5/6 and additional streaming chips.
Begs the question. Would Sony make developers sign an agreement to keep multi platforms games on a par if Microsoft have the better hardware this time?
I doubt the 2 GPU scenario - unless they have 1 less powerful integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU in crossfire. I know AMD do this with their PC APU chips. They crossfire them with specific low-mid range GPUs.
Still need good exclusives to show them off. Not just the usual suspects.
I agree. Sony pretty much laid it out there.
I do think it caught Microsoft off guard and they have had to up their specs somewhat. No competitor keeps that silent and gives up 2 months free publicity without good reason.
MS can't say anything until they finalise their specs. They would look pretty foolish otherwise. But they need to be careful. It is unwise to make any major changes to a system within only a few months.
I thought Resistance Fall Of Man was awesome and that was set in WW2. The atmosphere was portrayed just right. That took me over 20 hours for my first run through as well (lame, I know).
As long as a game has a great story, brilliant atmosphere and lasts at least 12-15 hours I see no reason why more shooters could not be set in WW2.
So:
4 Products = 257k Nintendo
3 Products = 207k Sony
1 Product = 90k Microsoft
Not including Sony PS2 hardware which still sells..
Will Microsoft ever release a hand-held/Tablet?
There is only 1 thing the PS4 needs - and that's ME!
How do you think Xbox fans feel?
You are a genius. How about next weeks lottery numbers for good measure?
If it means that all Xbox 720 users need to subscribe to Live to play any game then of course its bad. If it simply means the OS will check your validity to play that game then maybe its Okay.
Maybe MS will allow online gaming for free like Sony. It may be an option for them if they want always online.
I would not pay for a new console then pay every month for single player gaming.
Then again I would not pay monthly just for the ability to pl...
Was Sony's announcement really 3 months ago!! - Seems longer now.
Let me tell you that here in the UK Microsoft advertise like crazy nearly all the time. So for them to keep this quiet for 3 months shows that Sony caught them off guard.
I am really excited (but also a tad sceptical) to see what the new XBox can offer.
If PS4 can focus on developers and all the cool new features revealed surely Microsoft can gives us gamers something amazi...
