Not trolling but the wii and 360 did not help. You either get Halo/Gears/Forza or Mario/Zelda etc. Good on their own but when that's pretty much the staple diet for a platform then it becomes a bit of a yawn.
And Publishers who stifle their developers.
With PS4 leading the way for indie developers and free to publish, creativity will be massive this time around.
Let's hope this makes Nintendo & Microsoft more developer friendly.

The pre-orders did it for them! Well done to all xbox & Sony fans who stood up to Microsoft! They had no choice in the end. The console was dead in the water.
It may still be less powerful but I am glad people won't get as ripped off. Buy what you want & play what you want - freedom rules.
This isn't all down to Sony fans. 360 owners are fed up paying for a yearly subscription just for online when they have seen how many AAA games PS+ subscribers have been getting.
They are also fed up of a staple diet of Halo, Gears & Forza - as good as they may be. When you look at Sony's exclusives on the PS3 you realize just what they will get with the PS4.
And now they both have the same PC CPUs then multi platform games will actually look tha...

Less than 4 months ago I was eagerly waiting to see what the PS4 reveal was going to bring and also what response the Xbox would have.
Wow! Who would of guessed this turn of events back then? Only silence from MS for 3 months, followed by a weak reveal. At last, games at E3 from MS but not enough day 1 releases and NO communication about system hardware internals and DRM, online, etc.

If I was MS I would stop all production, pay off any publisher/developer agreements and cancel it all.
Then start a proper development for release in 2-3 years when prices of tech drop more and release an even faster dedicated gaming box with 500GB SSD.
This way they will have the better system rather than trying to match Sony at the moment. They are the only company who could absorb such a loss and then recover. It could actually work!
MS have more money than sense. They will spend millions to advertise this box and you know how gullible consumers can be about casual gaming (wii).
But their biggest problem will be price and the huge size of it. Expect massive price drops (they will absorb the losses) and new slimmer versions within 6 months if not sooner.

Just 4 months ago before the Feb PS4 reveal everything seemed calm. Just look at what has happened since!
There is not one person alive who could of predicted the amazing turn around. It must be like a bad dream for MS.
The best thing to come out of all this is multi-platform games will look similar due to the same CPUs. Maybe PS4 will have a few extra graphic details like extra AA or something but essentially the same.

It was MGS4 that did it for me. I walked into the big gaming in the city centre and saw the MGS4 15-minute demo from Tokyo Games Show. Had never seen anything that amazing before.
Also RFOM had awesome atmosphere to it and a very harsh check point system. Very frustrating but rewarding once completed!
Loved Motorstorm too - also got Ridge Racer on day one of purchase.
Never played a game on this scale before. Just as you said, it will be great to give it a go in between releases. I feel a great bond emerging between PS4 & PC games & developers..
Publish for free! That's a massive incentive for new developers. They do not have to sell their soul just to get their game to the masses.
