Fingers crossed this is an omen that PlayStation owners will soon get to experience the unique charms of Crackdown 3.
@DarXyde Fair enough you don’t want to create another account, I get it. It doesn’t seem such a big deal to me as I already have a Hotmail account which I’ve had for many years. To be fair, I prefer not to have to create an account just to play a new game. It seems that the biggest publishers do this as they want a direct’relationship’ with their customers, in other words access to their contact details and player telemetry.
If I remember correctly, the last big Minecraft cross-play update on PS4 required users to enter their Microsoft Account details. Not such a big deal when EA and Ubisoft do the same.
If Call of Duty 2024 starts asking for Microsoft account details from PlayStation players then come January 2025 Microsoft will be able to report that it added another 15 million Microsoft accounts to the Xbox ecosystem!
THIS was the game used to promote the power of the Xbox Series X at its reveal back in 2019. Then every showing there was intentional focus on this being bigger and better. Then this year Microsoft revealed it would be a shorter experience, around seven hours -so why only reveal that in 2024? It suggest a change of plan and that behind the scenes there was some development hell and the game is shorter to ensure it’s released this year.
The twist (my speculation) might be t...
There’s a lot of speculation about what this breakdown all means. The sales performance and format ratio of this one game is not enough to interpret as confirming a shift in the industry away from console, it might simply be that Hellfivers II resonated most with a PC audience. We simply need more sales data from more games.
In his Gametrailers past I’ve found Pachter to be friendly and entertaining. However he’s always blindly predicted Xbox success even up to the start of this generation. Now Pachter has adopted and repeated the new terminology of Microsoft, that it hasn’t lost the console war, it just wants more business. This is illuminating because it suggest he, like Tom Warren at the Verge, is inline with Microsoft’s PR strategy.
Nintendo would disagree with him, over the last six years it’s had fantastic growth both with Switch hardware and software.
Sony would disagree with him, it launched a new console during the pandemic and eventually got it leading the market in new sales and its subscription service and multi platform game sales are thriving on PS5.
It seems like Phil Spencer is reflecting on stagnant sales of the company he has led for a decade and is disingenuously proje...
Over the past couple of weeks there has been a lot of upset in the hardcore Xbox community about the possibility of Xbox exclusives coming to other platforms including PlayStation and Nintendo. So to those people let me reassure you by underlining Phil Spencer's words; it will only be the FOUR games that will be ported. NO OTHER FIRST-PARTY XBOX GAME WILL EVER BE RELEASED ON PLAYSTATION OR NINTENDO - EVER.
Everybody knows this that's why everybody on N4G who reads...
I rarely play multiplayer. Does Helldivers II have legs or is it a flash in the pan that players will one day get bored of and suddenly drop?
The headline suggests that CoD launching on Game Pass has been confirmed, when in fact the article is speculating. This is clickbait.
@Einhander1972 Great opening post that sums up the strong sentiment of many.
I’m of the opinion that if Microsoft does bring its shovelware of Grounded than Sony should tell it to back off - that kinda nonsense actually would demean the PlayStation platform.
What you talking about? This is the reboot Lara but in the original costume.
Sarah Bond: “There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. We’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap.”
‘Share’ doesn’t mean release, it means reveal. The XSX Pro will be revealed and released Christmas 2025.
The ‘we’re also invested’ refers to something different which is next-gen Xbox.
I don’t think Microsoft should release an Xbox Pro, it did it with the Xbox One X and it boasted that it had...
That podcast didn’t do Xbox any favours,
The boxed-console industry could be over faster than we thought? Truly the end of days is coming.
The thing is, it sounds like Hiroki Totoki will be repeating the mistakes of Xbox, and for the sake of those day 1 PC sales he risks undermining the uniqueness of the PlayStation console.

My SPECULATIONS about Xbox hardware announcements:
* Phil Spencer will be asked a scripted question (as will be the whole thing) about the Xbox consoles, then he will give an emotional answer along the lines of 'we care so much about the Xbox console'.
* He will reconfirm Microsoft's commitment to Xbox hardware and say that new products are in development and that, naturally, it's too early to reveal anything now.
* He won't make clear ...
What might they say?
My SPECULATIONS based on the various unreliable and reliable leaks.
Phil Spencer's identity and that of his parasocial loyalists have been tied up with the Xbox brand for years so he is going to want to tread carefully so that this doesn't sound like a retreat, a failure or that he is abandoning his 'bros' who have him on their friends list and get excited when they see his account playing Pentiment.
