It's not a CD drive or DVD drive.
It's a BD drive and unfortunately... it is different. Even to run BD discs on my PC with an external BD drive I needed to connect it to the internet! I could run anything else no problem just not Blu-ray discs.
THAT WAS ON A PERSONAL COMPUTER POWERED BY WINDOWS 10 OS.
If the laser diode dies... you just swap out the diode. There is nothing marrying the diode to the drive or wider system. This is how most people fixed broken PS3 and PS4 BD-ROM drives, if the diode dies. If some other components inside the drive die like the image processor that analyses the light pulses received by the image sensor in the read head assembly, then you're SoL because those components are soldered to the drive mainboard and are extremely difficult to replace without damagi...

"Disc rot."
I too store my physical games in a vat of fungi and acid...
Seriously, what the f••• is "disc rot?"
I have f•••••• 3 1/4 floppy disks that still work just fine 30 years on. Never ever had a CD "rot" on me. Nor has any software storage media even lost enough data to corrupt a game (or track of music or anything) due to natural expectations of data loss due to the intrinsic flaws of various storage...

What's funny is this is how FM's AI has always been. Literally every single fanboy remark made against GT games since the very beginning of FM in 2005 was BS to pump up FM games and make GT look like crud.
This isn't hyperbole. Microsoft created Turn 10 to make Xbox's version of GT.
Like most stuff MS attempts... it just didn't work out.
Don't know why people are disagreeing, PGG definitely has the potential to be better, at the very least, PGG is making some of Microsoft's most polished games.
Gaming was always really expensive. It was never cheap even in the Nintendo days. The cheapest gaming console was probably GBA and it was powered by literally 12 year old tech when it launched. PSP pushed Nintendo to make more powerful portable HW and Switch is an extension of the fight Nintendo lost to PS in the mobile power space. Of course PS found out their mobile market wasn't big enough to justify huge budget AAA games.
Nintendo is selling $70 games on a $250 cons...
What if MS is handing down this ultimatum to Xbox? I won't say Xbox will surely be dissolved by 2027 if this benchmark isn't met.
On the other hand Xbox has been a drain on MS for more than 25 years by 2027, I can see MS saying... 'We're done losing money here.'
To be fair GT5 6 Sport and 7 in photomodes look very similar (even rendering out 4K images and 3D images for PS3 back in the day).
That's because the car models textures and shaders were all really excellent on PS3 and 800+ of those car models from the PS3 era (not just the "standard rendered" ones either) were just tossed out and rebuilt for PS4. Of course, on PS3 rendering 4K images took quite a bit of time maybe 15-20 seconds in Photo Travel mode... I remember it lik...
PS+ isn't needed for free-to-play games like Fortnite which is popular as well. Many parents might have PS consoles for Fortnite and no PS+ yet.
No issues with my disc. Most people I know were playing it with progress showing online as well. I did purchase the $10 premium digital upgrade before midnight on the 19th after already installing the game from the disc. I also didn't install the day 1 patch, because apparently I didn't have the space after PS5 allocated the storage for Spider-Man 2 disc install. I didn't know that until after I noticed the patch wouldn't finish downloading, but that was after I had already be...
Amazing... so they b•••••• about something else.
So like 30 bugs most of which no one sees... in the whole game. Two of your videos are nearly carbon copies of eachother.
I personally had one issue with audio desync after Peter obtains the symbiote suit. One issue starting the game underneath the sand (which I found my way out of without restarting). Sitting on a bench at Conie Island and getting stuck (no broken animations or anything there was no prompt to leave the bench and I had to reload... I lost no progress). And one crash ...
Sometimes it's too late. If they wasted their cash making Xbox and Switch ports (because it's not free to publish releases on Nintendo or Xbox either). If they waste their cash catering to the smallest markets for the supposed Souls-like... that's on them.
@Plague-Doctor27
To be fair how long did it take for Skyrim to get that big. It wasn't like month 2 post laungh Skyrim memes were mainstream taking over the global internet... felt more like 5 years post launch before that really happened.
What? No sales numbers.
What's the point?
@DarXyde
"I'm just glad to see that you're denying it's a corporation being greedy."
I like to think of it as you overreacting... because it sounds like you are. You act as if these raw material costs are the only thing going up. What about the people PS pays to buy those materials to make PS5? Yeeeaah, YA DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THAT!
I do.
The price of labor the price to manufacture the shipping the hosting... IT ALL WENT UP...
Pretty sure we did. Destin must not get a lot of time to drive in real life. It is pretty clear that he has watched a grand total of zero real life races as well for him to claime FM23 looks better.
The Ermz video someone above linked shows that Kireth is both a liar and a moron. See Ermz shows the same s••• happening... in cockpit view!
@PrinceOfAnger
Driveclub used SSR on everything and managed to also include it on car bodies. Go back and look at footage of opponents passing eachother... oh, what's that? They show up in reflections on body paintwork! That was on PS4 without modern raytracing. SSR is technically a form of RT, but it gets complicated especially as most see raytracing in SSR and modern GPU accelerated raytracing as completely differently due to Nvidia's misuse of the terminology.
