In the next update, I beg of you, implement a feature where we can ignore certain posters. I'm sure both sides are sick of the "hardcore fanboys" whose sole purpose is to rip on news about the opposing console, and I would like this site SO much more of I could just turn them off so I can read news and have a meaningful discussion. Please!
If MS wants a HUGE PR victory in Japan...simply release another 90,001 of these bundles over the holiday season.
Really would look poorly on Sony if the 360 outsold the PS3 (due to launch shortages, I know).
1. There is NO framerate drop with 1080p.
2. THe ONLY reason 1080p wasn't enabled from day one was that at the time of launch there was not a SINGLE 1080p television on the market. They couldn't even test the functionality.
3. ALL 1080p televisions on the market today have VGA inputs. 1080p can also be used over standard component cables.
4. HDMI will NEVER, EVER be required for gaming. Ever.
5. They said 1080p wasn't important, and a year ago it wasn't...s...
I would call them totally different games built for the contoller from the ground up.
Thus the reason why the Wii60 is such a damn attractive combination.
And of course Sony is just going to open up the PS3 and allow anyone to do whatever they want with it.
Install your own software and mods, thus ruining the publisher's ability to make additional revenue. Sure, go ahead.
Install you own media player so you can avoid purchasing Sony media? Sure, why not?
Install your own homebrew games so you can run free emulated classics rather than paying for them? Sure, why not?
Install homebre...
Let's wait and compare loading times of BluRay, direct-to-memory uncompressed, and dvd loading with decompression before we continue this absurd argument.
Loading larger assets from a slower optical format is going to take cpu cycles while the data streams from memory.
Meanwile, loading smaller assets (compressed) from a faster optical format takes far less CPU cycles, while additional cycles will need to be spent doing decompression.
At the end of...
If this list consisted solely of 360 games, it might be pretty easy to explain...the 360 is out and people want games to play.
But the inclusion of Wii games and even the cross-platform preference towards the 360 version makes this a little more confusing.
I'm not going to say it is due to poor games, as I think we can all agree that we'd rather play RFOM then Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.
I think this problem really stems from Sony's inept PR department. ...
"60K hardware units were sold in Sep-06, which is an improvement from Aug-06 (200K)."
These are, of course, US sales (which, in addition to being the lowest estimate I've seen BY FAR, the article didn't bother to point out), with world sales estimated at between 750k and 1 million for September and MS still on track for 10mil++ by the end of Holiday '06.
The overall sales also make it the fastest selling consumer electronics device to date to virtually any mil...
This argument has been bothering me for a while, so I hope you don't mind if I pick on it for a second.
(I wrote a long rant but then trimmed it to these simple facts)
The NES sold 60 million units (destroying the competition), the SNES 50 Million (also destroying the competition) and even the loser to the PS1, the N64, sold 60 million. The Gamecube, therfore had at least "60 million potential customers." Guess what, the Gamecube sold around 20 million, lan...
But I totally agree with your comments about the worldwide launch. Microsoft's strategy seems to be getting substantial units to all territories long before Sony even shows up. Europe, India, South Africa, all once considered "second tier" markets are currently adding hundreds of thounsands of xbox sales every month. How long before Sony sends its first PS3 to India?
I also think MS is going to be well over the 10 million mark by the end of this Christmas...I'm sure...
Maybe because the system has not been, nor will it ever be, released in the U.S. I could spend a fortune importing a system with a less than optimal screen and processor or just run down to Target to get a psp.
"In view of the anticipated market growth beginning in 2007, we have initiated the development
of several new titles including the latest in the “Resident Evil” and “Devil May Cry” series intended
for next-generation game consoles. We are fully aware that the main market during the next fiscal
year will be for current-generation game consoles and portable game consoles. For that reason,
we are maintaining earnings based on the sales of our game tit...
My take from both the report AND the interview was very much that this title will be multiplatform...whenever there are vague statemenents (Oblivion, A.Creed, etc) the title ALWAYS ends up being multiplatform.
With the sales of Dead Rising on the 360, as well as Capcoms MISSION STATEMENT of utilizing multi-platform development to reduce costs, anyone who doesn't think ALL Capcom games will be multiplatform is insane.
PS3 will get lost planet and dead rising.
You are buying Huxley. This is NOT a MMORPG.
How about maybe, just maybe, $25 was too much for a full-length film, without extras, that I can ONLY play on my PSP? The movies are great for when you are travelling for business and are desperate for something to watch...but honestly, who wouldn't rather watch a movie on their laptop anyway. Sorry Sony, had you charged $5-$10, the format may have worked...since you tried to be gredy and charge MORE than a DVD, it failed.
The PSP is the BEST portable, once you install all t...
"Sony's PS3 can lose in one country so it does'nt matter."
Europe is a CONTINENT. A country would be England. Europe is a close second to the United States in terms of game sales, to lose ALL of Europe would be a disaster.
How does this show the potential of the PS3?
But I can't imagine a $100 price drop _this_ late into the launch schedule...after pre-orders have been taken, after their initial shipment is guaranteed to sell out, after taking such an amazing PR bashing.
Just makes no sense, although it would be wonderful for gamers (and horrible for Sony).
But that is about all I'm ready to give this game yet. To say that a 1st generation game is going to be capable of groundbreaking AI seems, to me, to be a little unbelievable at this point.
It may be there, but until I can verify this with my own eyes, I am very skeptical about this promise.
If this is true (I don't really take Kaz at face value anymore then than I'm really impressed. Regardless of what one thinks about the game, to have video chat up and running at launch with what has always seemed like a "last minute" network system is quite impressive.
