What he said.
p0wn3d!
I did it. Are you happy now?
"like the Blu-ray Disc technology that lets you play high-definition DVDs."
Missed that the first time. I agree that the sentence is VERY confusing, but I don't think he mixed up the media. Regardless of the names, both formats are _technically_ High Definition and both formats come on DVD-Like media. If he were just to say "comes with a BluRay player" I'd imagine 90%+ of MSNBCs demographic would have NO idea what that meant.
MSs Marketing team is absolute garbage. Their PR team (with the scheduled announcements to steal Sony's thunder) is great, but the average consumer should have been informed that for $200 more ALL you get right now is two or three exclusives and a bunch of inferior ports. At THIS POINT, MS needs to slam that idea home, because the PS3 and the "crazy lines" hype machine is in full effect.
Halo 3 multiplayer beta should have gone live TODAY. I don't care how many mil...
Regardless of whether or not you think this is "propoganda", all marionz did was submit a link to a story on MSNBC. Of course it has a MS spin to it, but this is still a legitimate news organization with millions of followers. The publishing of this article (on a site millions of potential customers read) is certainly more news than the crap rumor-of-the-day blogs that infest this site.
I was a writer for an Atari magazine doing Jaguar coverage. Lots of interviews, previews and trips to the headquarters to go over Jaguar items. I had total blinders on, thinking it was an awesome system...which woudl have been true if no other arcade games, video game consoles or pc games had ever been created in the history of mankind.
I have half a dozen unreleased games still...and all of them are awful. ;)
You've got to admit, compared to the PS3 and 360, it is amazing how little people care about the problems. I'm going to walk into a shop on SUnday and complete my Wii60, and the lack of full featured online doesn't bother me at all on the wii.
I think all the hatered is being used up bu the Sony/MS camp.
It was actually the "Atari Jaguar", which had dubiously claimed to be the first 64bit system. By the point that they released the system, the company had virtually NOTHING to do the Atari of 2600/Bushnell fame. After the Jag, the company was sold to a hard drive manufacturer. The rights then got picked up by the new Atari, which again, is in no way related to the previous 2 incarnations.
End Lesson.
The recent post about consumers thinking the PS3 is under $300 shows the lack of information in the general population.
Everyone tries to make the argument that "you can't compare two games because one is first gen and the other is second gen." Unfortunately, that is EXACTLY what most consumers walking into a store are going to do. They are going to look at GOW and look at Resistence and assume the 360 has better graphics. THe average consumer isn't going to say &...
I'm going to be the first person on the forums to say this...I would LOVE for there to be a single video game system vendor. It isn't as if Sony fails MS won't continue to try and innovate. MS needs to get customers to buy their newer system regardless of competition. It also isn't like pricess would skyrocket, MS has had a virtual monopoly on O.Ss and productivity software throughout its history...and prices/quality have remained stable. The key point is that Software developers are stil...
Please explain how Sony, which has historically made the most difficult and unfriendly DEV Kits in the history of gaming, is going to provide anything similar to XNA studio?
XNA is built around C#, a simple managed language invented by MS, Visual Stuido.Net, THE defacto development environment for well over a decade, and DirectX, a standardized and VERY simple graphics library in its managed format. The documentation for these items is beyond belief.
The amaz...
"and I would bet the farm on gametrailers.com business estimates. "
Hilarious!
The beta 1 wasn't used by most people (myself included) because the process of getting art assets into the games was a NIGHTMARE kludge. With Beta 2 they added the content pipeline, allowing 3d models to come directly into the development studio...expect cool stuff to start coming soon.
"The PlayStation 3's competitor, Microsoft's Xbox 360, does upscale 720p games to 1080i if the HD set supports the latter resolution but not the in-between and commonly-employed 720p resolution."
I had to re-read this quote a couple of times, because it really makes it sound like:
"Microsoft's Xbox 360, does upscale 720p games ...but not the in-between and commonly-employed 720p resolution."
I realize that there are no commas in...
"You just dont place a game that doesent even really exist yet ontop of mgs4."
You do understand that Blue Dragon is SUBSTANTIALLY closer to being a game that exists than MGS4 is.
And given that this was a poll of Japanese gamers, it turns out that "you" can, in fact, place Blue Dragon higher up on the list.
That this game gets cancelled. I doubt any fanboy would dare say a thing, for regardless of any improvements, there is just something fundamentally "broken" with Full Auto.
The interesting thing isn't the 8.8 the editors gave the console, it is the anemic 7.3 that users gave it. Compare this with their Wii review, in which users ranked the system higher than the console.
I think it is a pretty interesting benchmark as to how the _average_ consumer feels, and I would imagine that virtually all of it comes down to price and the low adoption of HDTV sets.
I know Nintendo isn't stupid enough to release games on DVD after millions have purchased a Wii, but the idea still scares me. With MS and the HDDVD addon, it is an external player and MS has CONSTANTLY said no games will ship on HDDVD. With nintendo upgrading the internal player I am a little bit worried. Some sort of assurance that games will NEVER require the DVD player would be nice.
I for one feel passionately that Sony should not be tweaking the 360 manufacturing lines.
Oh, wait. ;)
