I never said it was wrong for Phil to focus more on games.
I'm merely pointing out 2 things:
1) the fact that he has flip-flopped on whether or not the Xbox One is competing with the PS4...
And
2) the fact that he no longer talks about winning the generation as he did a year ago.
Now, you (or anybody) can assume what they want about me. That won't change the above ...

Sorry buddy, but Phil Spencer obviously backpedalled on his 2014 view of competing with PS4 since he's now saying Xbox isn't about the competition.
And Phil Spencer won't even say the word win anymore, & he no longer talks about wanting to win this generation anymore. Why not?
People who previously used words like "win" / "want to win" & then completely stop using those words...typically stop...
I know I'll get a lot of disagrees on this but Phil Spencer DID backpedal and flip flop...Sorry, he did.

And since most DevKits for electronics rarely cost over 3x the consumer level cost, its a pretty good bet that Hololens will retail for $1,000+
We get that its an SDK, but even if the consumer price is 1/3, that's still $1,000. Which will all but completely stop Hololens from primarily being a gaming device.

The MOST EXPENSIVE the Sony VR experience is going to be is $900. While the CHEAPEST the PC/Rift experience is going to be is $1100. Difference = $200 (3 AAA games)
PS4=$400, SonyVR=(AT MOST) $400, PS Move=$50, PS Camera=$50...Total Sony VR experience=$900 (AT MOST)
PC=lets say $800, Rift=(AT LEAST) $300...Total PC/Rift experience=$1100 (AT LEAST)
And never mind if that $800 PC has to be $1000 PC or if the Sony VR c...

1) I doubt anybody will get a $400-$500 PC to work with Rift (which is what the PC would have cost in order to equal the price of the PS4 VR experience)
2) "just about more-or-less approximately exactly the same price" -- I'm pretty sure "just about", "more-or-less" & "approximately" don't match up with "exactly"
Phil Spencer's whole rational in this article is based on this 1 statement: "I don’t think that [VR] should be the only way people play." -- But Phil, NOBODY ever suggested VR should be the only way people play video games...People will play games with their families like you spoke about, but they can also use VR as a get-away (in the same way family members might go off by themselves and read a book...that doesn't mean they never want to enjoy entertainment with their famil...
