I agree…I do however believe PS4 will go on to be the 2nd best-selling home console in history (obviously the PS2 is #1)
Your logic is flawed…You keep claiming the value is in the number of games offered…But the value can be made up in several ways…Let me give you just 2 examples:
More AAA PS4 games throughout the year. Or maybe…More recent AAA PS4 games (the more recent a game is, the more it costs the consumer…thus creating more value if they get put into PS+ sooner)
Nope…If its ready then ND will put it out before the PS5…Just like they didn't wait for the PS4 to put out the 1st game
@porkChop - "The Wii won that gen by a significant margin, and far outsold either system"
The Wii sold 101.63 Million…The PS3 & the Xbox 360 sold approx 90 Million a piece…In what world is approx 11.63 Million "dominate" or "significant margin" or "far outsold"?
Actual examples of "dominate" & "significant margins" & "far outsold":
PS2 outsold every other ...
@Xexal & @porkChop
"Wii level dominance"?
The Wii only sold 101.63 million consoles…When its all said and done PS1, PS2 & PS4 will have all outsold the Wii…I wouldn't use the word "dominance" when it comes to the Wii
Statistically speaking, PlayStation is the king of home consoles…And its not even close
@Obscure_Observer
"I agree that Sony has the advantage even if Days Gone is the only first party game which has a release date officially confirmed."
Not True...Days Gone is not the only first party game with a release date
Technically Both Microsoft & Sony have 2 first party AAA games confirmed for 2019
Microsoft: Gears 5 & Crackdown 3
Sony: MLB 19 (March 26) and Days Gone (April 26)
Yup…Phil Spencer, like several people including PlayStation, are looking forward to continuing to work with Bungie. These comments are very common when creators get out of situations that weren't working for them (and when those creators get full rights to their IP in the process)
Did anybody get what Microsoft said their Monthly Active Users were? Or are they no longer release that number?
I only ask because they were the platform, in early 2016, who said hardware sales were not as important as engagement (Here's a link where Phil Spencer said Monthly Active User was the better way to gauge success: https://www.g...
@darthv72
Thank you for that clarification…I would have added that in, but I thought everybody who visits this site already knew there were no such things as physical mobile games (and very few, if any, indie & PC physical games)
Eurogamer's title is a tad misleading
The "80% of UK video games are digital" statement actually includes mobile, PC & indie console games…75% of AAA games are still physical in the UK - source: https://www.gamesindustry.b...
And then when we look at the entirety of 2018…The order will be the exact opposite…
For all of 2018:
1) PS4
2) Switch
3) Xbox One
Looks like PlayStation is changing PS+ release dates!!!
In the USA, the release date used to be the 1st Tuesday of the month…Now its ACTUALLY the 1st DAY of the month
EDIT:
…MY BAD…The 1st IS on a TUES…I thought the 1st was on WED
For 2018 we will rename GOTY to God of the Year...
Yet another God of the Year award…Congrats to Sony Santa Monica
@StormSnooper
Experiencing higher than expected users is not the screen I'm talking about…I've seen the screen your talking about & what I'm talking about is not the same thing…
The screen I'm talking about is a 404 error…the kind of error you get when you go to a page that wasn't meant to have anything there
Hey, PlayStation…where's the USA version???
All I see is a 404 error (in the USA this URL ( https://www.playstation.com... )...takes me to https://www.playstation.com... )…Either one takes me to a 404 error
I'd LOVE to get some stats for my PSN
@timlot - "Wouldn't matter if it was 99% PS4 to 1%Xbox. The best version can only be found on the X and as a consumer thats all I care about. Not how much some much money some multinational company made."
Here's somebody who's thinking is very short-sided…The more revenue the gaming divisions of Sony and/or Microsoft bring in…The bigger budgets their respective corporations give them…The bigger the budget, the more and/or bigger the games get
I'm seeing some people say that even with Sony's marketing, PS4 only got 68% of Red Dead Redemption 2's sales in the UK…
Well, rest assured, over 2/3rds of the sales/marketshare of this game...is nothing to sneeze at
I don't know why your down voting @Kribwalker b/c he's 100% correct when he says "Xbox gamers willing to pay a premium for a better console"
Of the minority of console gamers who decide to purchase an Xbox One…they are absolutely choosing the Xbox One X over any other sku
True…But I do think when its all said and done, the PS4 will be the 2nd best-selling home console in history…And if that happens PlayStation will have the top 3 best selling home consoles ever
