Agreed. Nintendo and I go way back...but it's like seeing an old friend fall into bad habits. Am I a better friend if I say nothing, or should I say what needs to be said because it's what they need to hear?
Of course, I know a corporation is not, and will never be an actual friend. However, sometimes a company's products can someone like myself, of all the good times I've had over the years. But, that doesn't mean I'm going to completely ignor...
That barely anyone outside of Japan played. Heck, some fans probably didn't even know Q2 was released, while still others did know about it but didn't bother with it. Not only is the 3DS not the Switch, but I doubt Q2 brought in too many complete newcomers, so...huh?
Yeah, not only for the story, but also because a mainline Persona game is the best this series has to offer. The spinoffs have their strong points, sure, but IMHO, none can even hold a candle to a mainline game. I play these spinoffs because the mainline games got me invested in the characters, premise and setting, and some of the game mechanics that do carry over, and I love these follow-ups for it, but they really can't top a full-fledged Persona experience.
Yeah, I don't get this at all either. Seriously, WTF Atlus? You can jump right into any new mainline Persona game because they all establish their own characters and settings that are semi-fictional, but are set in Japan. A spinoff that acts as a direct sequel on the other hand...no, I don't think I'd recommend this as a starting point.
I'm assuming this is mostly for multi-system owners...and maybe also so people stop wondering who the heck Joker is in S...
So...Crackdown 4 then? Oh MS, you really need fresh material.
They are listening to their fans...they just prefer to listen to the ones who kneel before a portrait of Miyamoto every morning, and who believe that everything Nintendo does is the best thing ever, and anyone who levels even the slight criticism at them is wrong. Also, they're doing really well financially, so that just tells them they really don't need to change to be successful.
@SPEAKxTHExTRUTH Oh no...it's already begun! Speaking of DLC-costume-fests, Dead or Alive has certainly doubled down on that.
@someone72 That is true. Tekken 7 was complete at launch (I don't think I said it wasn't). Actually, if anything everything I just said applies even more to Street Fighter V, which started off being very bare bones, and last I heard it's into season 5, while Tekken 7 is only into season 4. Neither game has exhausted its entire cast from previous games either, so they somehow still have room for more seasons. I think Street Fighter V will ultimately win for having the most seas...
That's probably coming in Season Pass 5...or maybe not till Season Pass 8. They just want your money either way.
Welcome to fighting games in the modern age. You might miss the days when DLC wasn't a thing...and Capcom still somehow found a way to milk their games anyways...but for the most part, if you got a fighting game, it was as complete as it would ever be and you'd just wait for the sequel.
Now companies have realized that the type of content found in fighting games lends itself way too well to DLC, so a lot of them decided to get in on that, with Bandai Namco now be...
Two things: 1) Do you really want both companies to get back into the whole exclusive character thing, where even a consumer who owns both platforms will be inconvenienced by the fact that there will always be an exclusive character they can't have, no matter which version of the game they decide to go with? 2) Do...people still care about this game? Slow news day?
Or Deadpool...the not Ryan Reynolds version who was so cringe that Ryan Reynolds made a point of killing him as Deadpool for a gag.
He is green too. Actually yeah, he would be a great fit.
Lulz. I'm just saying, videogames aren't the worst thing out there. Sure, there are habits that would be considered "healthier", probably by those who engage in the "superior" hobby of binging Netflix all day, but at least gamers are staying out of trouble. And heck, many people are beyond depressed right now, and some may even be the type to turn to recreational drugs. Heroin would be an extreme example, but it wouldn't be a thing if no one ever did it. F...
Yeah...we did this. I love Nintendo, but they're the poster child for why I don't like when a company gets too successful. They hear our criticisms, but many people (even those raising criticism) purchase their products anyways.
Personally, I go to great lengths to avoid paying full price for old games, but that's just me. It took a Black Friday sale, and $27 worth of coins for me to get Breath of the Wild for an acceptable price, but I did it. I got it for ...
Don't forget, the world went to heck, so a lot of people do have more time than they used to...for better or worse. Mostly for worse, but hey, there's time to play games now. That said, if you're lucky enough to still have full-time employment, your position is more enviable.
Anyways, even in normal times, gaming is a hobby. Who are you to berate what people do with their time if it makes them happy and isn't dangerous or illegal? They could find time to...
Come up here to Canada, and you can pay $80...and $100 for Joycons. Of course, if the price goes up to $70 in the US, it will probably be like $90 here because exchange rate. Yay...
It's interesting knowing that some games are now being developed from home. It makes sense though, and the final product appears to have turned out well regardless (I'll have to verify this for myself when I finally get my PS5).
The official product costs $100CAD too, which is ridiculous. Plus, there are some great custom controllers out there, and even more options for skins and shells if you just want to change up the aesthetics of ones you already own. If you want Skyward Sword themed Joycons, there are probably much more affordable alternatives.
To make matters worse, there's always an article celebrating when they do throw us a bone and some legacy games do get ported over. As for me, I see it as great at all, but I can't help but lament the fact that there are many more titles from VC that will never come to the Switch. A lot of people seem to have selective memory, and forget that was a thing.
The Switch is a so-so legacy system when judged in a vacuum, but we don't live in a vacuum, and I can...
