No, the PSP is not doomed. But it COULD use a more consistent flow of quality software outside the RPG genre, IMHO.
I love me PSP.
1) This issue has been repeated ad nauseum.
2) The "points made" are selective and quite vague, getting into NONE of the specfics. Saying Netflix on the 360 is important negates the issue of DD having less than 1% of the home movie market, while BluRay ramps up to over 10 - 15%. Also, what does the Wii have to do with anything?
3) We're sick of BD is doomed, PS3 is doomed, RROD, etc crap.
ROFLCOPTER.
Really? Really?
BD and DD will live together for a while. But to think DD will kill BD instantly or become the primary form of entertainment media, without acknowledging ANY of the MANY MANY obstacles that DD itself needs to overcome first, is just stupid.
Who writes this crap? More importantly, who believes it? This isn't even an article. It's vague as all hell.
Congrats to Bungie!
Personally, I think its foolish for any company to use blanket statements in telling "what consumers want."
More numbers and stats. I really don't understand the preoccupation with numbers and stats. I really don't.
I mean... I guess Sonic 3 is a better game if 2.9 million other people are playing it. That should make it more fun for me... right? Right?
Sales charts don't lie. But the term "Game killer" does. I mean, I don't see people running around saying "Gran Turismo" killer, which sold more than even, yes, Halo. Gran Turismo is the Halo killer acc...
This response right here goes to show how useless the term "killer" is, since we can't even agree on what is being "killed." Image? Sales? Mindshare? Playtime? Features? Visuals? Gameplay?
Though it's sad that the first thing a gamer would go for is "sales" and not "most played." NPD's contribution to gaming, eh?
In multiplayer? I don't think so. It's still majorly played, and personally, I think Bungie were geniuses for adding that video recording feature. I think EVERY game should have that feature nowadays for competitive game types. I dislike muzzle drift, but it's fun to pick up and feels rather balanced and tight.
For single player? Dear god, I've never been more disappointed in a series ending, ever. It just... they could have done so much, gone in such a better direction... and Gu...
Resistance 2 upset me because it wasn't RESISTANCE part 2, it was instead CoD4 Light: Arcade Edition.
*sigh* I would hope gamers were smarter than this by now.
The term "Game X Killer" is one concocted by the media to sell magazines and get site hits. When in reality, there IS no "killer" of any game, unless its a direct sequel. Why is this? Because it's a little known fact in the fanboy community that games can coexist, and gamers can enjoy and play more than one type of game in any genre. Try it some time!
Different games have different appeal...
Guess you missed the earlier story with this same sales data that was labeled "PS3 struggles even with WKC release."
Like I said Sony, value is subjective. However, cost is not. You need to drive that price down to $299 by summer.
Use Gamefaqs? Hell, I ran the MGS2, MGS3, and MGS4 boards.
And FFVII is ONE OF the best games of all time. Right up there with Ocarina and MGS.
Calculating the value of a console to me, which is subjective? Interesting. Clearly you don't know the meaning of the word.
For example, the value of a 360 to me, who owns a killer gaming PC, is not the same as the value of a 360 to someone who may not have a killer gaming PC.
Xi, you're a level headed guy... what is your personal opinion on exclusive DLC? I find it to be a disservice to customers and fans. What's your take, if you don't mind answering.
Edit - Specifically, the Fallout 3 and GTA4 story expansions.
Hey, I'm all for multiplatform love. More gamers get to enjoy more games.
However, what I DO find amusing is Square going on and on about multiplatform being their future, and the reason for FFXIII to the 360... then they go and clam up the MOMENT someone asks them in the same interview about Star Ocean on the PS3.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Value is subjective, highly subjective, and will vary from person to person.
Raise your hand if you play console sales data!
Anyone? Anyone? No?
Damn. I guess I can't enjoy a ton of awesome games since the PS3 is in third. Boo. Hoo.
Oh dear god. Grow up people. I love my PSP. It's probably one of my favorite consoles due to sheer versatility. Yeah, I hacked it, but I will NOT use that for anything outside of SNES and Genesis emulation. I gladly PAY for all my PSP games, and WILL not pirate them. Titles like Crush, Crisis Core, God of War, Daxter are all great. I just want more! LATELY, it feels like there hasn't been a big title FOR ME to look forward to.
Dissidia doesn't interest me personally, and I can't ...
