Gravemind man. Totally underutilized. Bungie could have done some AMAZING boss battles, but instead it just rips off the end of Halo 1. Man, such an amazing universe, why did they have to ignore most of it in the third title?

Exclusive titles make sense. They define platforms. While its not always a great idea for third parties to do in this tough economic time, proper incentives and monetary deals can make it worthwhile.
Personally, I feel exclusive DLC or timed exclusives, be it for the PS3 or 360 or Wii, are stupid.
Timed exclusives hurt sales of the game on ONE of the eventual platforms.

Well... yes and no. Consumers SHOULD research. I don't doubt part of the marketing strategy was to not show gameplay during the entirely CG commercial. HOWEVER, that's what advertising is, and I won't fault Microsoft for doing it when every other company does as well.
I remember toy commercials in the 80's, now THOSE were some hardcore duping tactics.

Nintendo WAS great, but this generation I haven't seen anything really great from them that suits MY tastes.
Sony IS great and continues to give me games that suit MY taste.
I enjoy having both, and would not argue or choose between them. I couldn't be a gamer without having God of War sitting next to Twilight Princess I feel.
Steam is great, I have 4 titles on it, but I still see it as "only" a convenient supplement to actually owning my games, on disc, on my shelf. I do love the platform hoping of Steam, and I think its a great service, especially with the voicechat controls and chatroom HUD.
No matter what the sales are, they will be spun by the Xbox fanboys and the PS3 fanboys. Gamers will continue to shake their heads. This happens nonstop, with every title. One side says the other side played the game up, the other side denies it, and round and round it goes.
