GDC is more for tech and devs, people shouldn't really go into it expecting a game focused show like E3.
I think games in general have gotten easier. The mentality is, the more people that can enjoy it, the more will buy it. Personally, I feel gamers should have to EARN that ending. I rememeber the days where beating a secret boss was a triumph to be celebrated. Today... not so much. Single player RPGs are a dying breed? Umm... no. Not every game needs to be an MMO to have a multiplayer component. If anything, MMO's trying to go against the juggernaut of WoW are a dying breed.

Seems like every major corporation is intent on "nickel and diming" users when it comes to the big three console manufacturers. They just do it in different ways, but all three are guilty of it. The question is, what can consumers do about it?

In simple terms, these are VIDEO games. IE mainly a visual experience. It's become part of our expectations that as we move forward in console generations, the visuals are the primary leap. However, that may change as we reach the limits of the current development mentality. Better visuals = more development time.

I hardly see how Sony is a "wannabe." I still do not see any parallels between an alternate history FPS and a futuristic TPS. Also, Killzone and Halo have pretty much NOTHING in common aside from their genre. Even their gameplay focus is quite different.
