It's mostly new screen technology that has allowed mobile tech to make better use of available battery power, and mobile tech advancement, today, is also slowing down considerably -- mostly due to problems with supplying enough power to more powerful processors, now that recent screen power advancements (OLED, vs backlit LCD, and LCD backlighting advancements) have run their course.
Consoles, and PCs, have a completely different problem with advancing tech (power and heat...
You can't have a better CPU/GPU, AND have it be smaller.
Fans & power supply, folks... fans & power supply. Those things are basically what prevents a high-end PC from simply being locked down (in terms of specs) and sold as a console in your livingroom.
You can believe that any new console will be *bigger* than the slim models of consoles out right now, just like the PS2 was bigger than the PS1, and the PS3 was bigger than the slim PS2. If they...

"If you want to play your old PSP games, keep your PSP."
Well said, sir. The article author seems to think he deserves to play UMD games for the rest of his life, on every portable platform Sony makes. Was that what was advertized when he bought the game? That it would work on the PSP, and all future handhelds from Sony?
He could likely sell a large portion of his UMD collection on eBay, and repurchase the ones he wants to ke...
Game reviews are NOT MEANT to be PERSONAL OPINIONs.
They are recommendations to the reader. The reviewer is *supposed* to keep that in mind, otherwise his/her "review" is worth no more than your grandma's "review" opinion.
The review is supposed to be a consideration of the game, from the viewpoint of an individual who both understands it, and was contemplating purchasing it. Reviews are not supposed to be from some random fool who n...
There have already been several MGS movies. MGS, MGS 2, MGS 3, MGS 4, MGS: PW, etc.
All of them were awesome. A non-interactive movie wouldn't be as cool.
The less you do, the easier it is to hit 60fps. I can't recall anything more than a few enemies at once, *anywhere* in Rage, and the animation tech, frankly, isn't all that advanced.
I'm not surprised that it can run at 60fps. I am impressed by the huge variety of (low-to-medium res) textures throughout the world, but not by the framerate -- they aren't doin' much that would tax the GPU or CPU.. only the streaming IO device and the memory IO. The fact t...
I have a lot more respect for games which, for example, run 256 players at 30 fps, than I do for games which run less than 25 at 60fps.
I think 60fps isn't all that hard to achieve, unless you're actually shooting to make your game somewhat interesting.
Admittedly, the streaming megatexture tech was interesting, and at 60 fps, I'd even call it impressive. Not really any more impressive than some of the tech accomplishments of games like MAG (huge...
If you're a Zelda fan, don't bother reading this guy's review, because his thoughts are completely irrelevant to you.
If you're new to the franchise, don't bother reading this guy's review, because Zelda is awesome, and Skyward Sword is an amazing first Zelda to play.
If you've played Zelda before, and didn't really like it all that much, and, for some wierd reason, were hoping that it would change into something you did like.....
It is amazing to me that people actually believe that Sony and Nintendo make even a small portion of their profits, via gaming, from their own software.
You'd have to be *really* ignorant to believe that.
It's licensing fees -- *exactly* the kind of thing that nets Apple huge profits from the iStore.
"The point is Microsoft actually added to the value of their slim, unlike Sony."
Yes, but really the fact of the matter is that Sony's platform always had more value, and adding value to the X360S really was just an attempt to achieve more parity.
Nice spin you got going there. Half-truths for the win, eh?
@theonlylolking,
"Is it trolling if I say most of those new things added can be done on the PS3 right now?"
No. Comparative analysis, and noting that other services offer the same for less (or free), when considering value of a service like XBL Gold, is not trolling.
It would only be "considered" trolling by the XBox mafia, looking to safeguard their interests against fair competition. The same thing is true of any compa...
The poster is alluding to the fact that many things you "get" with your $60 subscription typically cost even more money.
The end result of that statement, is drawing an analogy between XBL Gold and its counterpart PSN+ -- the latter of which provides a bunch of free stuff and discounts, for the annual $50 fee. XBL Gold does not provide the same sorts of discounts, outside of early downloads or betas, really. The comparison is valid, because the article is *about* ...
They can't do this without printing manuals, cover art, and only taking unscratched discs as tradeins. Someone mistakenly buying used, when they wanted new, will be *enraged*, and they will lose customers left and right.
That's NEVER gonna happen.
I can agree with the MAG 2 comment. That game is great, and deserves a sequel.
SOCOM 4 looks better than MW3. MW3 falls flat on its face relative to most shooters released in the past 2 years, and SOCOM 4 and Gears 3 are among its betters, not to mention BF3, which blows it away.
I agree with your statement about this game looking good though -- that a Vita game can look that good has convinced me I'm going to need to get one... for Uncharted, this game, and the eventual CoD that will come.
Zipper's PSP games were pretty awesome. This one looks awesome from the screens. My hopes are up.
EA owns Bioware, and MS wouldn't be able to buy EA without a major stock revolt.
News post error:
The article score is 9/10, not 10/10. Should have been caught before approval...
Yeah, they are whining about exactly what I just said. The question was a "wth with the article?" not "what is the article about?"
A common destructoid theme.
Lol... wut?
These prices are basically identical to stock retail prices for high-performance SD HC cards of the same sizes. Expecting Sony to price them *cheaper* than high-performance SD HC is ridiculous, since that's probably what they are, on the inside.
The retailers will discount them (just like they do for SD HC cards...), etc.
