Microsoft will do exactly this at E3 2012.
PS2 RPG collection FTW. I still use mine, and I still have RPGs to play, despite owning one, and playing it, for years and years.
I even bought a backup, just in case the old one chokes. Honestly, I think a significant portion of these sales are probably exactly that -- people wanting a DVD player+, or a backup for their trusty old horse. You just can't go wrong with a PS2.
I *really* hope the PS4 can emulate it, because there are a lot of PS2 games ...
360 looks just a tad blurry compared to PS3. Probably the resolution is lower.
Also, the guy playing on the PS3 is a better NG player, and makes the game look cooler just by showing off his skill.
...said the digital publishing guys?
Come on. How can we take this article seriously, without an actual party who doesn't have a stake in PC gaming?
MS likes indie devs for the PR of "supporting" indie developers.
The truth is... that's about as far as they go, with regards to helping indies. They allow them onto the console.. sorta. You have to use XNA, which is mighty restrictive, for example.
Umm. I read the list expecting it to be full of good IPs that haven't had sequels this gen, or new ideas. Example: MAG, Metro 2033, Borderlands. I know Metro: Last Light and Borderlands 2 are supposedly in the works.
Instead, it was full of old or mediocre IPs, that had poor executions this gen? Duke Nukem, Rage, Medal of Honor?
Remakes are single-player ONLY.
I doubt Sony wants to resurrect the servers for old PS2 games, and patch to fix the cheating issues, just so they can sell a couple HD upgrades.
That said... do you really want HD remakes of SOCOM, if its campaign-only? You should be asking for a complete S1 and S2 map set, for SOCOM 4, and have classic mode use recoil instead of bullet spray, instead.
It was one of the best shooters of the last gen. WAY better than Medal of Honor, or even Halo (in SP...).
I doubt you even played it.
Actually, I enjoyed the single-player campaign of the original Killzone FAR more than Halo. It did kill Halo in that regard, as far as I'm concerned.
Then again, Halo single-player was always terrible, compared to contemporaries like Half Life 1 & 2.
Pachter is correct.
If you have nothing to show yet... why bother? Save the big guns for E3.
This is good, sensible business. Take the hardest platform, and make it your lead, then take the easy road to port to the other platforms. There's no reason the PS3 version, or the team itself, should suffer from making a hasty port on the back end of the project.
Hitman, as a series, has also been more popular in Europe than the US -- another good reason to make certain the PS3 version gets lots of attention.
Umm, Crysis for $10.49 this week, for PSN+. That's nearly 10% the annual cost of the service, right there, and its only 1 of many items, in 1 week of 52.
Knocking PSN+ is ridiculous. It's an *amazing* deal. If you missed out on Deathspank, and loads of other titles... 30% discount this week. You get Qore for free, every month, as well, etc. etc.
Even the regular updates rock -- FF: Origins this week? $10 for updated versions of both FF1 & FF2...
LoL. Whatever @ article.
The 3DS upcoming list is STILL not decent, and devs have had *plenty* of opportunity to take advantage of it.
They aren't coming to the 3DS yet, either. Apparently, the investment to make a 3DS game ($3M-$10M) isn't worth it, relative to the investment to make a DS game ($0.5M-$3M), especially given the VAST marketshare disparity.
All those little devs... the ones that can't swing a contract for more tha...
I really liked my Nyko aluminum case for my PSP. I'm almost for certain going to get my Vita one, unless Sony's case is better in some way.
GC and Wii games also go in the same slot, and are both, basically, nothing more than a DVD format.
Yet the Wii U will only support GC games via download. This is a choice by Nintendo, not a hardware issue. The same will be true of DS titles. Business intelligence always trumps technical potential.
The kid's life is not going to be made easier, by forcing him to deny his nature.
ALL mammals have a 10% homosexuality trend. The kids brain is, basically, part feminine through a fairly common change in the fetal development process. All forcing him to "act manly" is going to do is make him feel like there's something "wrong" with him, whereas, in fact, he's a perfectly normal human being, given how common his condition is. He'll get pl...
Give it a couple years. Nintendo was, once, seriously considering removing GC backwards compatibility from new models of the Wii, in prep for GC games hitting the Nintendo Virtual Console. They may do that again -- certainly GC play won't be available on the Wii U, despite the fact that it would obviously be able to read the discs and play the games, since it can do that with Wii games, and the Wii is nothing more than a superset of the GC. Nintendo *chose* to remove BC as an option fr...
Prices are NOT the problem. Cheap, great quality, indie games are horribly pirated, and frankly, that's probably one of the major reasons it is *so* hard for an indie developer to get off the ground.
The problem is NOT with the industry. The problem is people's morals in the modern day. People think its okay to steal from some "thing", because its not a some"one" that they know, and therefore won't hurt anyone. Whereas, in fact, it hurts *e...
You left off the Wii Tales games (Symphonia "2", Graces), for one. Fragile Dreams is another one that was pretty stellar. They were better than several entries on your list, IMO.
GH5, NMH2, a couple others, didn't really seem worthy of a "top 40" ranking, to me. Most though, like I said, you nailed.
Xperia Play just got a whole lot cooler.
