It sounds easy, from PS3/360. The Vita has more RAM available from the get-go. If devs use all 3 available CPU cores well, they're probably in good shape.
Lol. Apple will be so mad.
This is a phenomenal game. The whole series is, actually.
Really looking forward to SC!
Oh for MechWarrior 5.
This might tide me over as a substitute for MechCommander 3, though.
Ew, you're correct. They made it *worse* by using circle pads, IMO.
So... they moved the +/- buttons, and replaced the circle pads with mini analog sticks like the Vita's? Looks like it got marginally less wide, as well.
I guess those are good improvements, but I still can't fathom comfortably holding the thing, while looking at the TV.
So... is N4G banning people for not being civil now, too?
Tough times, eh?
Seems reasonable, except it would be 30000 yen, if its $299...
@dcbronco
Sony purchased the Cell plant from Toshiba for a reason.
Also if you think the current iteration of the PS3 is the last, you are nuts.
A single tiny-process Cell (say 22nm) wouldn't cost that much to add to a PS4 architecture. Both the PS3 and PS2 designs did exactly that, if you recall.
The current PS3 Cell is 45nm, and the original was 90nm, for reference.
I agree that there couldn't be PS3 BC.... but there could be PS2 and PS1 BC.
Maybe that's enough. Alternatively, they could like they did with the PS3, and include a tiny fab process Cell in the first edition PS4's, to allow BC, and then axe it later.
@Elemental_
"Not even a chance of majority multiplats"
I'm not sure I understand this statement, but...
You realize that the chances of multiplat games, with the PS3 and 360, on the Vita, is MUCH higher than the chance of those games coming to 3DS, right? The Vita has memory on par with the HD consoles, and the 3DS has memory on par with the Wii... and that's the major hurdle in making multiplat titles.
@LX-General-Kaos,
"Nintendo exclusives mainly in house games will always be the difference maker in this regard"
I disagree completely. The DS succeeded where the PSP did not -- in the, then barren, casual games landscape. Sudoku, Brain Age, etc were what brought the DS into the light of the public eye, not Nintendo franchises. Nintendo franchises are what has sold the 3DS thusfar, and are the only reason, outside of the price cut and the vast DS...
This article should have the PS3 tag as well. It mentions the PS3 directly, as one of the platforms for the collection.
That said... I think I might pick this one up for my PS3.
If Vita adoption is higher than the 1:2 adoption that the PSP had vs the DS, then Sony has succeeded. This market is more of an extension of the PSP vs DS "war" than it is similar to the debut of the PSP, so trying to use opening week comparisons of the DS vs the PSP vs the 3DS vs the Vita is wrong.
It looks about 7:10 right now (given combined 2M for worldwide opening week 3DS, and combined 1.4M for worldwide opening week Vita), which means the Sony PSP/Vita line ...
The Vita is, basically, for people who like handheld gaming, but think phone games suck.
I think Sony is banking on the possibility of a lot of those people existing. They are not trying to outsell the iPhone, or whatever. They are simply trying to own their demographic -- those people who want portable gaming that is not crappy like phone gaming is. Plain and simple.
If there are only 20M of those people, that's okay, as long as the games are made, fr...
It's not a console. Just re-iterating what MultiConsoleGamer is saying. =)
600 jobs cut at Blizzard... wow. Since contract expirations are not "cuts", these were people who were, presumably, hired for full-time positions which are no longer affordable.
Nice work, Bobby. Looks like the trip downhill has begin -- or, rather, its finally evident.
You get what you pay for.
I thought for sure it was gonna be Terminator: Salvation or Last Rebellion, but I guess there aren't as many easy-plat addicts as I thought.
