well... I'm on my 3rd ds4.
A) you can use the lipo pack
B) its easy to swap the batteries when they die or have another lipo pack on standby (my method) without needing a tether. Considering the ds4 battery is awful, it should be the controller with swappable batteries
C) having pulse motors in the triggers is a way better immersion tool than a trackpad nobody uses.
D) not having a glaring light that you can't turn off reflecting in the tv is a good thing.
E) the ds4 looks cool but...

I have both consoles and it's awesome. There's no way to lose. You get the best of both worlds. It also makes you realize how biased and overblown people on the internet can get when you experience both systems strengths and weaknesses firsthand.

i get what you are saying but linear gameplay is a type of progression, as are missions in open world games. Linear implies that you progress in a single rigid path. Most open world games let you do several things simultaneously and or not in any particular order. You can go anywhere in the world at any time. So while you are in fact progressing through the game, the manor that you progress is not linear progression.
i think linear games are fine as long as they are fun and compelling. an added benefit is that you can usually crank up the graphics as well since they don't require the resources that open world games do.

personally i remember buying outrun for the sega master system at the price of $49.99. by todays inflation rate that would be about a $70-80 game.
i think ms is doing everything right with products and services now (finally). i think their hurdle is changing peoples perceptions about the console from its first impressions and educating them about the system. i still constantly read comments about how its useless, its a door stop, its slow, the ps4 is 50% more powerful, using comparisons of drive club to forza to prove this even though there are very big differences in priority for the power being used for each game respectively etc......

Drive club and forza are two different games. Drive club belongs with need for speed, project Gotham and grid. Forza belongs with gran turismo, project cars etc. when you aren't running complex, accurate sims you have more power to put into graphics effects. I'll take forza over dc any day of the week.

how do we progress and do new things while never trying anything new. there are always going to be people like myself who have the means already established and will go for it, for a better experience. why make arbitrary rules about how a game should run. God forbid the next round of consoles are streaming only consoles but the benefit are render capabilities 100x more than any local machine could achieve for a consumer based price.
