If you're gonna be home most of the time. Just build a desktop that'll be almost 1/4th of the price for the same or more power. If you're on the move alot, a gaming laptop isn't exactly a bad deal.
Guys.
Don't feed the troll.
They deserved every copy sold. Such a great game.
Loving the game. I can safely say THM will be my starting class when release hits. I just hit 20 at the end of this beta weekend and with astral fire II, it gets so powerful.
So... what's stopping you from hooking it up to your TV.
I'm playing alan wake PC at the moment on my 42in with a PS3 controller. The option is there if you want it.
People mostly buy better GPUs for better performance and slightly upgraded visuals.
Top of the line CPUs and 32GB are for either nonsensical bragging rights or you're heavy into RAMdisk, virtual machines or you actually work (Photoshop, 3dsMax, Unity, etc.) on your PC.
Games nowadays only 2~3GB of ram and those are the really graphics intensive ones.
A much more common architecture means less development time, which means lower costs, which means more profit, which finally and ultimately amounts to...
More games.
So yes it was the right way to go.
@Stuna1
Higher wattage consumption is really only an issue if heat generation is not to the manufacturers satisfaction or if you have an unsuitable PSU for your wattage consumption.
@Ulf
The innate performance advantages due to GDDR5 having higher timing is probably over exaggerated. Due to the console having a pretty simplified OS, the CPU isn't being taxed from multiple applications fighting for threads/cores like a PC.
I'll probably switch between both versions for the hell of it.
<3 the PC/PS combo.
Nah I doubt it. The control schemes are too different.
I'm sure there will be plenty of users on the PS4 though seeing as it is a highly rated f2p launch game.
GDDR5 makes it easier to run a game at higher resolution with added effects such as super sampling, Anti-Aliasing, AF, higher res textures, etc without performance hits.
GDDR5 pretty much doubles the memory bandwidth of GDDR3 under the same conditions with RAM clock speed and the bit-bus.
Of course it will. It's EA.
There's no way in hell they'd pass up a chance to make more money.
It's people's nature to shit on other people's beliefs. See: Religion.
It is a never ending cycle of fanboys, fighting fanboys, fighting fanboys.
No power brick still? What kind of magicians work at Sony's R&D department?
Who said it won't be native 1080p?
Of course it won't have higher options as it is a console. With higher options comes with higher cost for an enjoyable experience. Honestly, it'll be down to what the PS4s CPU is capable of. The game isn't a graphics powerhouse at all.
The widely popular and successful FFXI from 2001 comes to mind. Looks like the platforms include PS2 and Xbox 360.
What do ya know, an MMO on a console.
The game is absolutely phenomenal. It deserves all the praise it is getting.
Well he's right. There's a reason why Microsoft's OS is dominating the market and is considered a monopoly. It's licensed to the vast majority of computer manufacturers. Which in turn skew this statistic. When someone buys a PS4, it has the same internals as someone else's PS4.
Anyone getting mad at this guy stating the truth shouldn't be mad at all.
Yes if your connection isn't up to snuff, you'll experience visual degradation, input lag and a jittery stream. Streaming isn't nearly as complicated as say.. heavy physics calculations on the fly.
@ clearelite
If you're looking for quality resellers (if you're in the US), GentechPC and XoticPC are really good.
I'm in the process of receiving a msi laptop from Gentech at the moment and they've been excellent.
