Should this kind of tactic put alot more of these players into people's living rooms, deals of exclusivity will undoubtedly be revisited once again. In fact, it may end exclusivity in that there will be Blu Ray for the Rich, upper Middle Class, and those living beyond their means; and HD-DVD, primarily in 1080i for the average Joe who actually cares about HD, but can't afford extravagance. Long term, I think the Average Joe would win out, since there are many more of them comparatively.

At something like 4500 stores, with what I'll guess on average is probably about two pallets of these players per store, which would be (guessing again) about 120 players per store, means that they'll probably sell about a half million of these things during that half day world wide. That is impressive, and will help HD-DVD, but since this is a one time deal, it shouldn't be a devestating blow to Blu Ray.

However, if this is just a testing of the waters by Toshiba, and they pla...

Good point that the people who buy these most likely will not be buying as many DVD's as the people who buy the more expensive products. However, I suspect that most people who buy these cheap ones have been wanting to buy HD for a while, but have been mulling over whether to spend beyond their means. Now they don't have to, and can get the player, a few free DVD's to get them started, and a few more at Christmas for less than half the price they would have had they splurged or gone into debt...

...if these cheap prices are the result of the dumping of discontinued or soon to be discontinued models? Of course that hasn't been announced, but these players are priced at what seems like liquidation prices. Add to that that the sale is for only one day, and it's curiously/suspiciously occurring before Thanksgiving, and really, I can't help but wonder. Even so, most of the people who buy at this price probably can't afford the more expensive players anyway, who don't see 1080p as realisti...

This game is awesome. I'm going to be playing it for a long time.

The last two weeks before Super Smash Bros Brawl is going to be way harder for me personally. But I'm definitely getting this game right away.

What is worse than the blind following of one particular company's product though is the apparently mandatory accessory of having to bash the products of other companies. The underlying theme in the gaming world these days seems to be: "See! I chose right, and you chose wrong! Ha!" It's just ridiculous. And quite frankly, embarrassing.

I was in K mart just yesterday. I had been to Target, WalMart, and Gamestop to try and find Battalion wars II, and none of them had it so I figured I'd try old K mart. Not only didn't they have it, but I was rather glad they didn't since they had only two cashiers for the entire store, and it would have been hades trying to get out of there with a purchase.

All of that being said, I imagine that some certain small % of people do buy their electronics from K mart, and so, this i...

But it was hilarious.

Just kidding of course, but that game is going to be great. :D

I can't help but realize that this is exactly why Wii owners such as myself are stuck with the abominable Friend Code... While I do think that Nintendo is wrong not to have an open system, it's hard to make an argument against the FC that will stick when this type of stuff is going on 24/7 in online gaming. "The online experience: Where normal people will say anything and everything to people they don't know and can't see, precisely because they don't know them, and can't be seen by them...

Holier than thou's complain about this game and the powers that be try to stifle it through the rating system, so they tone it down at the game's expense. Every review you read has something negative to say about the hasty compliance changes made to the game. And yet, after all of that, people are still going to dog the fact that the game was made. What does that say to the developers? Nothing that will allow a step forward, that's for sure. This isn't my kind of game, and I will not be buyin...

I'm almost glad that Super Smash Bros. Brawl was delayed. There are just too many games coming out right now that I want. If only we always had this problem. :D

There seems to be alot less maturity amongst the fans of the so called "Adult" systems. (That relatively small portion of those fan bases that lives to talk crap.) If ever they comment it's negative, insulting, or just downright absurd. In any case, people have been waiting for this game for a long time. It should do really well on all systems.

"As most people who have played the demo in stores have said the game just isn't anything special."

What kind of ridiculously broad opinionated statement is that? Let me guess, you and your two friends, who already hate the Wii took a quick look at the demo at Gamestop, hated it of course, and now declare yourself an expert in your judgment of it.

1. There isn't a professional opinion out there that has complained about the graphics. Quite the contrary...

Slippy and whatever the other character's name is had tiny voice roles in Melee during the Adventure mode in-between the two battles with Fox. So really, like the article says, we can't assume anything other than the basics. Though it would make sense for Nintendo to add a female character from the Starfox series. I hope they have.

You are right that it would probably be a hassle to spend alot of work picking the best stage for each day, but I'm sure that they will at the least have a certain high standard for quality.

No matter how you'd crack it, this would be tough. Still, such systems for idea submissions have been known to work before in other industries, like comics for instance.
