Or, the practice of having MTs in a game we're already paying up front for should be banned. That was a technique designed for F2P games to make money. It was not supposed to be for greedy devs and publishers to double-dip on the consumer's dime for content we should be entitled to by paying for the game in the first place. I just deal with that by not buying the game to begin with. If a company's going to be like that, I'll give them $0.00.
You could do what I do. I usually wait 6 months to a year or so. I only make an exception if it's a game I just can't wait to play, or if it's something I really want a physical copy for and that will be in short supply, or if I'm a huge enough fan that I just can't pass up a collector's edition. Otherwise, if I'm just going to backlog the game anyways, there's no reason not to wait. I still buy new copies or go digital, so I can support the devs and publis...
Games. Give me something I can only play on the XSX that I find desirable enough to want to check the system out. Failure to do so will result in me not caring, as I'll have plenty to play on my PS5.

I do that all the time if I want to get into a series, especially if it's one with just two entries, and the first game can be acquired for fairly cheap. Actually, even though I've already played The Last of US Part I, I do have plans to replay it before I get around to playing its sequel. I already own it on both PS3 and PS4 though.

Oregon Trail. For some reason it left so much of an impact that I couldn't resist investing in one of those dorky Oregon Trail handhelds. For the record, I pretty much never buy that sort of thing as I'm perfectly content with getting my retro games in large compilations that I can play on my system of choice. Sadly, Oregon Trail doesn't have a ton of ports.
I haven't played the game yet, but I'm even more intrigued after all the controversy. I can't say where I'll stand, but I'm going in with an open mind.

Pfft, I'm pre-ordering my PS5. So, at least the payment will be going forward before day 1. I suppose I'll still have to wait until day 1 to actually play it...but it sounds more awesome to say I plan to secure mine before day 1.
I tend to wait for price drops and sales anyways. If game prices go up, I'll be that much more inclined to do so.
