Isn't there a collection that contains 150 Atari games that is already available on most systems and certainly costs much less than buying additional hardware?
I agree that there are more ways to make a game look great, and looking great is more important than how "realistic" a game can look. I don't think Spider-Man is the best example as I certainly wouldn't define it as drab to look at, but otherwise, great article.
True. One thing I always appreciated about the Uncharted games is that even though they were prime examples of graphical fidelity for their time, the devs at Naughty Dog were clearly not afraid to crank up the colours for some environments. Sure, we got unnaturally vibrant blue waters at times, and unnaturally vibrant green leaves, but the Uncharted games have aged much better from an aesthetic standpoint than a lot of other games from their era. That's not the only touch they added to...
I agree. There are plenty of art styles out there. The best attempt at realism that the current technology of a given time period allows is just one such option, and it tends to age worse than the others for a couple reasons. One is that it only looks "beautiful" until another game comes along that looks even closer to the apparent goal of photo realism.
More to the point though, devs who take a stab at photo realism often focus more on the details than other...
Well, people do love their acronyms. I use them a lot as typing full name games over and over can get tiresome. Sometimes, I might open with the full name then use acronyms subsequently to clear up any confusion as to whether I'm talking about God or Gears of War for example (I'm a Sony guy, so I'm more than likely talking about the former). HZD and HFW work. I think people like numbers as it helps with sequencing games. In a two-game series it's not that big an issue, bu...
I would love for there to be flying mounts, and thanks to the announcement of deep sea diving, I would now love for there to be underwater mounts. I had no concept of the latter until recently, but now I can't not think about it when mulling over what I'm hoping for with this game.
So...that could be up to $90CAD. Alright, the onus is on companies to prove to me their games are worth that. It’s increasingly rare for a game to prove to me it’s worth $80CAD, so I wish them luck with that. But, I’m not normally paying that for a game I can get for half that six months later.
Yeah, here in Canada we already went through that inflation shock. The number of games I’ve bought on release went down accordingly. A game already needed to justify paying $60CAD for it, and now that’s $80, and I can safely say, a game now needs to be something special for me to pay that. And people wonder why I very rarely ever buy Nintendo first party games anymore, in spite of owning a Switch.
Brace yourselves though, my fellow Canadians. If game prices in the US go...
I mostly do that anyways. As someone who has both played a lot of games, and has a lot of games, many of which are backlogged, I’ve since developed a sense of what games are worth to me. Once in a while, a game comes along that I absolutely must have day 1. But, that’s increasingly rare. It normally helps if I’m offered a fancy collector’s edition or something, but even then, it’s not as if I’ll buy a collector’s edition of just anything. I normally have to be a big enough fan of a serie...
Agreed. And if a game really does end up having MTs, no need to buy ever.
He probably only has the grape kind anyways. All the folk up in heaven surely hog all the good flavours.
Someone hasn't tried spending time around anime fans. I agree that gamers can be really toxic though. Every fanbase has its cancerous folk. For real though, there are things I like where I've made a conscious decision never to join the fandom, because I'm better off enjoying them in isolation than jumping into those cesspools. It's a pity though, as I'm the type who would otherwise be predisposed to discussing my interests with like-minded people. Quite often however,...
Wow. Some people really are losers. That's the lowest of the low. You're welcome to think what you want about a certain character, but Laura Bailey just did her job. Also, I happen to think she is an excellent VA. Most importantly, and I can't stress this enough, she's a person. Just because these people aren't saying these things to her face doesn't make it any nicer or warranted.
Yeah, Sony are pros at building hype.
John Oliver did? I have to see that.
I don't see it happening. That said, they can certainly take steps to do better this gen than they did last gen. Whether they do or not is entirely up to them.
Nah, that's not a confusing or convoluted enough name. How about RROD One? Or maybe RROD Series R.
Yeah, moreso than the free games, I often sign up for a month here or there to save on games. I find that it tends to pay for itself and then some. Sometimes, the savings on just one game justifies the cost. I don't really play much online so I don't sign up for Plus very often, but when I do it's to spend less money.
Interesting. I might still give this a try though. Fast loading times was one of the things The Sinking City needed.
Yeah, actually. I wouldn't have known Stadia existed either if it weren't for gaming news, but it got that in spades. It certainly didn't help the system sell, but it did have gaming news coverage. I've never seen a Stadia on sale anywhere in my region, or so much as advertised anywhere IRL. If this Atari VCS doesn't even have much in the way of gaming news behind it, I can't imagine it will do well at all. I'm sure as heck not counting on seeing one in stores...
