I think it really depends. If the developer can find a way to keep each installment fresh, without abusing the things that make it great, I have no problem with this. Since there are certain series' I really love and get attached to, and to let it just die after one tiny story over the course of 2 or 3 games is just ridiculous.
For example, the Mass Effect universe is gigantic. And if they actually ended it with Shepard and 3 games, I'd be hugely disappointed. There ...
And now I'll be buying ME1 for PS3. I already have 1-3 on PC, but I have 2 & 3 on PS3, and I need to complete the collection. This is actually going to be amazing playing the first Mass Effect on PS3.
The PS3 is turning out to be a very good entertainment device. I hope they get more apps like this on both the PS3 and Vita. They need more streaming services like this for more western media too.
Like HBO, Adult Swim, variety of movies channels and such to appease those not too in to anime.
And this is exactly why you'll see more developers move to these types of small games as their primary source. Especially in the current age of developers dying off, and everyone wanting money.
What sounds better?
Developing a game for 25-50 million dollars that either is a hit or miss.
Or
Making a game for far less with less people needed to develop, have less content, and have plenty of micro-transactions?
This could either j...
This game looks absolutely amazing. I just want to see more on how you make your character, or how adventuring and questing works.
I hope it's the Vita's answer to Monster Hunter. Since we clearly aren't getting that anytime soon.
As fun as this game looks and how interested I am in it's story, it's gameplay is clunky as all hell and whoever designed the controls should be fired. So I'll be passing on this. If PS+ gives it away for free I'll play it, otherwise it's a complete pass for me.
Dante's rival is Nariko? I get that Ninja Theory made both those games, but it would have made more sense for it to be Kratos.
Not only because they are the two HUGE characters in the genre they're from (ongoing fan-battle), but because Kratos is a god-killer, and Dante is half-demon, half-angel. Therefore creating some kind of strife between them.
Also in the sense that Dante jokes around a lot and Kratos is incredibly serious. It's like the best...
Oh no! Damn Sony for trying to protect the things they create.
It's funny because they even created a way for indie, or aspiring developers to develop for their new handheld, and it STILL isn't enough.
If you aren't satisfied by PSMobile, then you simply don't care about the usual excuse of "Homebrew games are the future man!" and all that junk.
Sony could have locked their handheld up like Nintendo and gave you ZERO...
If anyone got upset about this, I'd laugh. Borderlands is a game where it's main tool is humour. So to put little easter eggs like this in and around the game is just fantastic.
Those who know where the original is from will pull a good old "awww yeeeaah" when they see "it".
In regards to the Boderlands 2 on Vita thing:
Maybe that's why the team who worked on Sorcery for PSMove is helping out with Boderlands 2 DLC? Maybe Sony is going to use them to develop the PSVita version of Borderlands 2.
It's the first thing that came to mind when I read news about them working on Borderlands 2 (Sorcery devs).
I just hope that if it happens, they take full advantage of Crossplay and the Vita's many features rather than j...
I vowed to never buy another Call of Duty again, but every time I see/hear more of this game (Multiplayer and Zombies, anyway) I keep getting interested. I'm forcing myself to keep this at arms length. I want to wait before I give it a try.
Who knows, maybe Sony will split it and sell Single Player, Multiplayer and such separately at a lower cost (if Activision allows them) on the PSN like they're doing with Starhawk, or maybe I'll see it on sale on Steam this win...
They can try to kill it, but they won't have the charm you get in Borderlands. Borderlands is 100% one of a kind, and anyone would be hard pressed to find a game like it.
And no, I don't just mean a first person RPG.
@Allsystemgamer & Mac is OK:
Both of those games are horribly bland and are nothing at all like Borderlands.
@RustedMan:
Skyrim? Really?
I said this before and I'll say it again: They will do this, but only AFTER the PS4 is announced and near release. By that time both the PS3 and Vita will be at very low prices, so bundling them would be made easier on both the customers and Sony.
Not to mention I'd assume by that time there will be more crossplay games, and more games utilizing the Vita as a PS3 controller. So bundling them together with a few Crossplay games would be Sony's way of competing with...
It's a slightly different situation with this since the guns are there so those playing with people WITH the special weapons could actually see them.
For all you know the pre-order DLC was loaded AFTER the full game was pre-loaded to your PC. No matter how you aquire Borderlands 2, that content will be on your game files since you need it there to see the assets in game.
If they didn't give them to you, there'd be a placeholder, which would render...
Well they did say "10 year lifespan" when it was announced. They did it with the PS1 and PS2, I don't know why anyone would think Sony wouldn't do the same here.
The even better part with the PS3 (that the PS1 and 2 didn't have) is that even with the PS4 out, they can still release some games digitally to the PSN on PS3 near the ass-end of it's life.
So manufacturing costs wouldn't matter to Sony (and third parties) when it com...
I have no problem with this. Mainly because I'll only be playing with friends, and if I do decide to play online with randoms, I'll avoid hackers (or in this case, simple file editors) like the plague.
Maybe, JUST MAYBE, I'll give this a look after finishing the game a few times. Otherwise, I want to enjoy the game before I ruin it.
@ExCest :
You bought Borderlands but don't enjoy the thing that makes it fun? Maybe you should have bo...
This is only true in the sense that it happens for all games. I "forgot" about the other DMCs after about a year. The only time I remember is when I see something DmC related. This game will be remembered for the same amount as any other game. And will be remembered longer by the DMC fanboys (not fans, there's a difference) since it apparently destroyed (made better irl) their lifeblood.
But to each their own. I'll (along with many other proper gamers) be ...
I was thinking the same thing lol. I actually really like this song.
Nothing "happened" to it. It just didn't have the ending you wanted. The other 3/4 of players that played Mass Effect enjoyed all the games.
If you want a different Mass Effect, go out and make it, and try to satisfy millions of gamers. As long as you satisfy most of them, you have done your job since THEY are paying your bills. Not the 100 people crying on your forums.
Guys, don't get your hopes up. It's definitely for the Last of Us. When it comes to Half Life, wait for something from Valve.
You all should know how this works by now. Everyone gets all hyped up on something completely unrelated to Half Life, or things with slight similarities, then when it doesn't live up to expectations everyone gets angry at Valve.
Half Life 3, or Episode 3, won't be coming out until it's ready. And Gabe already stat...
