The used game industry being a billion dollar industry is exactly why Sony and others want a piece. It's money being made off their games. And all those potential buyers are buying used when they COULD be buying new and making publishers some money, who can then go on to fund more risky ventures.
People need to take their heads out of their asses. Games are expensive to make. That's an absolute fact. And just because they make their money back doesn't mean it was ...
So you'd go from Sony/Microsoft not allowing you to resell/buy used games to Steam/Origin not allowing you to resell/buy used games? Did everyone forget PC has been doing this for ages now?
Oh, not to mention to buy a game used (PC) and trying to buy a CD-Key usually has you spending FULL PRICE on the game. So you'd be paying whatever they sell it for used, then whatever the price is to buy a CD-Key.
I hope everyone realizes all this does (if it even takes hold) is force places like Gamestop to price used games at a much lower price, right? Because essentially they're just doing what they do now, but instead of an online pass or CD-Key (something PC gamers had since PC gaming got anywhere; Diablo 1-3, Half Life, Counter-Strike, Daggerfall, among many great PC games ALL had CD Keys which is 100% equal to this but more strict), it's a used-game unlock code.

The game honestly doesn't look too bad. Like, it doesn't look good or anything in it's current state, but I've always wanted a FPS Zombie survival game where the zombies weren't all roided out and relying on quick, jerky reactions to make things scary.
I had far more tense moments in games like The Walking Dead (Telltale), RDR Undead Nightmare or Resident Evil 2 than say Resident Evil 4-6, Left 4 Dead (I love this game though, tons of fun), Dead Space (pu...
This generation has one or two years left at the very least. It doesn't mean we won't see a PS4 and/or NextBox next year, or the following year tho. I just can't see them ditching their current consoles anytime soon even with the new ones coming out.
Not to mention they're perfect advertising devices if cloud gaming takes off. Especially Sony with Gaikai. They could essentially make PS4 games playable on PS3 with Cloud gaming using Full Game Trials through plu...
And all Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer DLC (Maps, characters, powers, weapons, map hazards, enemies, etc) was free. So... yeah. More developers should do what they do.
If it's technical limitations holding the game back, I'm more than certain it's going to be a PS4 launch title.

No apocalypse. They found more of the Mayan calender. As it says in the article, "December 21, 2012 simply marks the beginning of a new calendar cycle and not an apocalypse".
The SteamBox does fill a purpose tho. There are tons of people like my brother who WANT to get into PC gaming, but don't want to put in the effort or money to do so.
Consoles have the upper hand to PC Gaming by being so easy to buy and use. All Valve is doing is making an incredibly accessible PC that runs Big Picture mode. They aren't trying to compete with Xbox and PlayStation, they're just trying to allow gamers to get into PC gaming easier.

The idea of Multiplayer killing single player is just a myth gamers created to simply explain why the Single Player sucked. It's the scapegoat, just like media always blames gaming for bad world events.
Not to mention Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed have very well-done Multiplayer portions, with Mass Effect 3's MP being handled by a team MADE to make DLC and ME3's MP mode (ME4's about to be their first full game).
Gamers are honestly s...
I think more than killing sequels we need to get rid of this A.D.D attitude gamers are beginning to have. If the world has enough content to make more in that world, that game SHOULD do that.
Mass Effect has way too much potential to just drop it on it's head and let it die. And lots of people (not most) are just saying this because they had a big black tube shoved up their butt over the ending of Mass Effect 3, which wasn't perfect, but wasn't at all anywhere ne...
What I find interesting is that they'll have two Metal Gear Solid games coming out very close together. This game was essentially "announced" or hinted at when they showed off Ground Zeroes.
So the first thing that went through my mind was that it'll be the Playstation-exclusive MGS, while Ground Zeroes is meant to be the game that satisfies the multiplatform group.
I could be incredibly wrong, but it's odd that Rising, Ground Zeroes a...
Given how amazing his music was in Black Ops 2 (and Mass Effect 1 and 2 before it), I think Bioware should bring this guy back.
I think this guy is a loon. Storytelling in video games is fantastic. I don't want to sit there and get high every time I want to take part in a story because it's a psychedelic pipe dream.

And Orbis Vitae is Circle of Life. Or World of Life, depending on where you look.
I can see the PS4 being named Playstation Orbis, and work together with the Vita (Sony could pull a Wii-U with that one). It could very well just be a codename though, just like the nextbox is Durango.
Anyhow, it'll be interesting to see what Sony has learned from this generation and what they plan on doing in the next one to stay on top (or get back...
Interesting tid-bit:
Metal Gear Solid was never really a Playstation exclusive franchise. Every single Metal Gear Solid was multiplatform except MGS4 (even then, it had an iPhone game released based on MGS4).
Examples:
MGS1 (PS1) - MGS:TS (GC)
MGS2 (PS2) - MGS2:S (Xbox)
MGS3 (PS2) - MGS3 (3DS, Xbox360)
MGS4 (PS3) - MGSTouch (iPhone)
MGSPW(PSP) - MGSPW (Xbox360)
The series wasn't really ever exclusive to any ...
I actually don't mind Xbox360 too much anymore. I used to play it all the time until my PS3 took over. I recently traded in my half working Xbox360 Elite and got an Xbox360 Kinect 4GB bundle for under $100 and I'm having fun with it.
Mind you I only ever plan on playing Blops 2 and Halo 4 on it (and maybe Dance Central 3 here and there). Whereas I play all other third party games on PC (along with exclusives), and I'll continue to play PS3 for it's amazing ex...
Really? Because all I'm hearing about the Wii-U from people who've played it (friends, girlfriend, etc) is that it's incredibly fun to play with friends and family. Now where have I heard that before? Oh, right, the Wii.
And how did that look for hardcore gamers? Not very well. I'll stick to Sony, Microsoft and my PC for now (and forever).
Well I'm enjoying it. And I'd easily say it's *one of* my favorite games of the year. It can be very bland to look at, but the GAME is incredibly fun and addictive, and ANYONE can pick up and play it.
I would agree with an 8, only because the presentation brings it down (the graphics aren't bad, mind you, just bland). But the gameplay makes it easily one of the most entertaining fighting games of this generation.
My personal opinion on the SSB...
Wow, the disagrees. And if you look at every reply hating on Kotaku, it honestly sounds like some kind of religious cult.
"Believe and follow what we say, as anyone, regardless of each individuals style on Kotaku is garbage because of association with that website."
Just because Kotaku has some shitty articles doesn't mean the whole website and everyone involved are terrible. As for Hideki Kamiya, THIS guy is ridiculously unprofessional and res...
