“It's part of the original appeal”

But that’s exactly what the article is about…

Why would he say it’s a double edged sword if the change was inherently good and he thought it was great? He seems to know that the original is crass and juvenile, “but it’s still a charm”, while this one seems charmless. And he is right.

Why so sensitive? People can like stupid things while admitting they are stupid. Like giant dong sliders and weapons. It’s crass, but it’s also fine. It’s perfectly explained in his opinion.

I sold my Haunting Ground several years ago, and it was already an expensive game. Do not regret it, though. For the time it was some good money. As for other rare games, I own a few, such as Fatal Frame and Folklore (though this one is a PS3 title). But to be honest, I don't see that much value in them rather than for collection purposes. Good games, but worth $200? Hm... Not so much.

Plus, it's an indie title with a small budget. IDK, sometimes you just gotta appreciate the effort.

This is sadly the weakest entry on the franchise. :( Would rather a remaster of 4, with some slight gameplay improvements. That one never saw a western release and it’s pretty good.

That being said, will probably buy this to support future FF titles (multiplat, pls).

Please, don't bring cosplay back as news to this website.

Can be cool. First one was groundbreaking for the time, but still saw somewhat limited appeal. Second one had some great story twists and design choices with a much broader appeal, but it was a bit more mediocre as a game. Maybe the third one can find the right balance between the two.

What’s funny is that Peter is actually a bullied overlooked nerdy orphan from a middle to low class neighborhood. He finds confidence (and, in some iterations, even good looks) after a while from his powers.

I guess that the author thinks that just because someone is white, they automatically win in life.

Looks cool!

It's just to make a base point of discussion. It's illogical to think anything is universally true when regarding individuals, and most people would know this. Or at least they should.

E.G.: "Games are entertaining."

Not every game is entertaining. Also, not everyone likes games.

@DEEHULK you’d have to compare sales figures by time frame. Control sold more than 2 million copies in less than 2 years. Alan Wake sits at 3 million and is 11 years old.

Xbox exclusivity really hurt Alan Wake.

@Darkborn ye, OP was talking about other titles. Reading comprehension is lacking nowadays.

The games are already pretty old and out on other consoles. IMO it was a dumb move to block those from updates. Would make people pick up the games again and maybe consider buying an Xbox for the future installments of the franchises.

No vision.

I tend to agree. Though there are collectors...

@Elwenil

I accompanied the whole ordeal. Still mantain my point. I consider Bethesda the worst offender.

"Nintendo wants to avoid seeing their IPs portrayed on anything other than Nintendo’s own hardware"

Wait. I thought Fatal Frame was a Nintendo IP after some sort of deal with Tecmo? No? (Genuinely don't know, if someone can explain).

I don’t think they were lying much more than it being a case of “biting more than you can chew”. Search “Todd Howard F76” and you’ll see what lying truly looks like.

Considering they are an indie dev, I’m inclined to let it slide. Specially since they did not abandon the game. However, when you have the likes of Bethesda and EA purposefully releasing crap or unfinished games, companies with a lot of resources, things get a bit more problematic.

A few costumes. Nothing major, really.
