Any console maker that made the mistake of moving to a purely digital distribution method would be committing economic suicide. Right off the bat they would lose over half of their potential customers.
As I said before, a purely digital distribution model is at least a decade away, in my opinion.
You're right Kushan, there is nothing wrong with having both. In fact, I am positive that is exactly what we will have next generation. A purely digital distribution model is at least a decade away, in my opinion.
DVD is borderline serviceable this generation. It gets the job done for most games, but there are some games that require more. Next generation Blu-ray will offer plenty of capacity for games.
I absolutely agree with you. After all, that is what I said.
-Cheers
Quit dreaming. There are lots of reasons why a purely digital distribution model for a home console will not be feasible any time in the near future.
I'm willing to make a bet with you right now that all next generation home consoles will utilize some form of physical media. Downloadable content will surely become even more common, but it won't be the only method of obtaining gaming software for the next Xbox, or any next-gen console.
Blu-ray will most likely be used. Blu-ray has plenty enough capacity for next generation's games and why would you use another format that doesn't allow you to have the side benefit of watching HD Blu-ray movies?
There's absolute no advantage to the consumer. If Microsoft goes with some random alternative technology it will only be because they couldn't swallow their pride and utilize the Blu-ray standard.
Stealth games are one of my favorite genres, from Tenchu to Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell to Metal Gear Solid.
All of the Splinter Cell games were good, and some were downright amazing. I can't wait for Conviction.
The first one and Chaos Theory were my favorites, but Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent were still very good games.
I can't wait for Conviction.
Wow, sounds great. I envy those of you who have already got to play the game. Oh well, the demo comes out tomorrow, right?
I believe the developers when they say we are going to be blown away. The Splinter Cell series is one of my favorite of all time and I know that they are working hard to make this the update that the series deserves on next-gen consoles.
Ubisoft is one of my favorite developers and have made some of my favorite games this generation. It was really disappointing to have to wait so long for Splinter Cell Conviction, but I know it will be awesome when it comes out.
No way. The Xbox versions were definitely the best versions on consoles.
Damn, I can't wait for this game. I am a huge fan of the Splinter Cell games on original Xbox and actually go back to play them from time to time.
Ubisoft has made some of my favorite games this generation, like Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia and I think they are going to do a fantastic job on Splinter Cell Conviction.
Double Agent was probably the weakest in the franchise. Or maybe it was just that it didn't change much and the gameplay was starting to ne...
Yes, I wish more people understood this. Thank you.
ma non capisco l'italiano.
I speak Spanish too and the original review is good. The translation isn't very good.
Por cierto, de que parte de Espana eres? (perdona la falta de tildes)
You really should find a copy of ICO and play it. It might be kind of old but art like that is truly timeless.
Shadow of the Colossus was truly amazing as well. Glad you liked it.
I can't wait to find out more about this new Team ICO game.
Well, that's your opinion. I like Halo 3, but I like Killzone 2 better. Uncharted is overall my favorite game this generation. MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet are also two of the better games I have played.
Mass Effect is one of my favorite games and I really enjoyed both Gears of War games, but in terms of exclusives there's not much else that interests me on the 360. Oh, I forgot I also love Tenchu Z, since I am a long time fan of the Tenchu series. Almost everything else that I ...
Killzone 2 is my favorite shooter and I can't wait to play on these new maps. They look so freaking good. And Wow, Killzone 2's graphics never cease to amaze me.
Best graphics, best shooter gameplay, and constant support from the developers. Guerrilla, you guys are awesome. You have truly become one of my favorite developers.
Oh yeah, damn that looks good. Killzone 2 graphics are so incredible. Those maps look fantastic.
I can't wait to find out what it is. Epic are a really talented group of developers and whatever they are cooking up is almost certainly going to be good.
Damn, I'm just so hyped for E3 and gaming in general this year. My two favorite platforms are really bringing the games that I want to play (yes PS3 fanboys, the 360 included) and it is going to hurt the wallet, but there are just so many awesome games on the horizon.
