In the videos it looks like the framerate is around 15 or 20 fps most of the time and there seems to be a lot of screen tearing. What I can't see clearly in the videos are the textures. How are those? Is there a lot of pop-in like we have seen in some of the single player videos?

It looks like it is often running at 15 to 20 fps, with lots of screen tearing. I hope Crytek can do something about that before the game comes out.
Color palette has nothing to do with the game engine or graphics in a technical sense. It's an art direction decision, nothing more. Neon pink is just as easy to render as gray or brown.
The gameplay looks fun and I am sure the PC version will look beastly, but this version seems to have some performance issues. It makes me worried for the PS3 version. They haven't even showed the PS3 version and if the 360 version runs this bad I shudder to think what the PS3 version might look like. Of course they might have other reasons for not showing the PS3 version and it still might end up looking good, but I can't help but be worried.
I think an origin story would be really cool, but in a way I would prefer if they explored that time period in one of the future games. So I think that a movie version of Drake's Fortune might be the better choice. The movie can hit different angles of the story which would be great to see.
I don't think he is too old, I just think he doesn't look enough like Nathan Drake.
Nathan Fillion has the voice and physical persona of Nathan Drake and he would be a perfect fit.
Yeah, Emily Rose is used to acting in front of a camera and she definitely has the look and obviously the voice, haha. She would be perfect. Claudia Black should also play her own role. Nathan Fillion should play Nathan Drake though. Nolan North is an amazing voice actor but I don't think he has the right look for Nathan Drake.
No, I love Uncharted and would also love to see it on the big screen. Of course I want them to do a good job, that goes without saying. But I really think it could make for an amazing movie.

I wasnt a big fan of the series before. All I played was the original Castlevania on the NES and then Symphony of the Night on the PS1. But I wasn't that much of a fan and I have to say that Lords of Shadows is a brilliant game whether you have played the previous games or not.
It really is kind of surprising how few graphically impressive games the 360 has. The PS3 basically has the best looking games in each category.
The PS3 is my favorite console by a good margin, but I don't think Digital Foundry has been unfair to the PS3.
They practical gushed over Uncharted 2 and God of War 3. And when games like FFXIII and Castlevania are better on the PS3 they say so.

I don't think Unreal 3 Engine is the best, but it's not the worst either.
Nor does it have to perform badly on the PS3. Batman AA looked great on the PS3 and there are other examples as well.
Most multiplats are getting to where there is basically just trade offs between the two versions. One version might have better tradeoffs overall, but most of the time the difference isn't that big any more.

I told you I would read your review and here I am. I agree with the person above me that you did a good job with the review. There were a few little errors but all in all you did well on the review. I am playing through CLoS right now (well on and off today) and it truly is as great as you described in your review.
I liked it a lot. It had a great campaign. It should have been about $40 though.
Haha that's what I was thinking when I read his list. Modnation Racers was just added in for "legitimacy".
Half Life is no way in hell overrated. I have recently went back and am playing through Half Life 2 and it is still better than most shooters today.
Actually, none of the other series in your list are overrated either. There might have been a few stumbles in some of them, but as a franchise none of those are overrated.

I don't agree with you that Killzone 2 was overrated. I really enjoy that game. But I don't think Gears of War was overrated either. They are both great games.
I'll be looking for your review, but I don't really know what to look for. I guess I'll just look for any Castlevania review that comes out tonight.
