I never expected it to be a convenient or suitable solution...but providing that option sure would help them a good bunch.

Desperate times call for desperate measures! ;)

But I have a really hard time seeing HOW they can get MGS4 to fit onto a even a small span of DVD disks without it severely degrading the game.

My God, that blink-of-a-demo, Heavenly Sword was ONE GIG!!!

I think I'm starting to see a trend here: more and more developers are coming out of the woodwork and admitting that a larger storage medium, such as Blu-Ray, is absolutely necessary for them to push ahead and make the games they truly envision.

Is it Q4 or March 8th?

EDIT @Lumbo

"Sony really was "pushing" the Cell and Blu-Ray on the consumer"

But isn't that the nature of technology? If it weren't pushed or encouraged, we'd still all be sending smoke signals to each other.

And personally, I'll take the 8-10 year life cycle if possible, thank you very much.

Trust me, if MS and Nintendo are planning to (research, design and) release a new console within the next 4-6 years, you and I are definitely going t...

Personally, it's a helluva good deal.

The problem is that the PS3 became the victim of a snowball effect of criticism since it's initial price announcement.

Yet few point the finger at the many other products which fall within - or exceed - the price range of the PS3. Those people fail (or refuse) to realize the amount of features and value that come with a product that costs the same as an iPhone...a MERE FRIGGIN' PHONE for Christ's sake!!!

And a...

OK, they've got the motion thing down...how about some hardcore force-feedback fatalities in the next round?

Oh wait, I think they may already be there...

I've lost count of how many stories I've already read about people getting speared in the neck or sliced in the head by a deadly Wiimote immediately following the Wii's release.

@Silverwolf:
Thanks for that hilarious imagery. Bubbles+!

Ya gotta love that Sam Fisher in Drag pic...gotta feel for the schmuck who tries to steal this lady's purse in a dark alley.

Hey, I vaguely recall reading (months before the PS3's eternal, wishy-washy release of the game) that it was the PS3, and not the 360, which was supposed to get the estrogenised version of the ass-kicking spy...as well as some extra maps, if my memory serves me correct.

Am I wrong?

I agree with you that it "looks" decent, but if their intention is for the game to reflect the television show, then be afraid.

Very afraid.

I can't express my disappointment enough, with how many precious hours of my life the show made me waste, in the hope that maybe just this time, some questions would be answered.

Instead wadda we get for our devotion? More friggin questions, obscure plots, and pointless characters.

is currently doing if for me (thanks for the recommendation, Truthhurts).

Everything about that game is just fantastic...I think it's the best game I've seen for not even having to play it; watching it is captivating enough.

Now that I think about it, the video game industry has very likely got to have the harshest, unfair, and most insensitive critics around (the world of sports is another one, but I feel much less sorry for seeing those multi-millionaire athletes being subject to verbal cheapshots).

This is most likely because a good chunk of the video game market is comprised of immature twelve-year-olds, who really haven't a clue to what it truly takes to bring a game to their living room - e...

Sony having omitted this lovely, much anticipated, little tidbit of news at their conference the other day is PRECISELY the one and only gripe I had about their entire presentation. Well, that, and the fact that my current PSP is woefully still in perfect working order, thereby negating an excuse to buy the new version (though I'm hard at work trying to get it lost, dropped and/or stolen.)

...What's that???...why, the birds are singing, and the sun is shining bright!...

And I'm sure you can whole-heartedly confirm this because you just stepped in from sneaking around in the middle of the night and peeking into the window of every closed-for-the-night Best Buy just to make sure that they're topped up with over-hyped PS3's.

Rest assured that your service and dedication to your futile and redundant cause does not go unnoticed, young man!

Wow, your stats are a few years outdated, buddy.

It's more like near-par at the moment.

Sorry, but I see some contradiction within your argument:

You begin by stating that no one will buy a stand-alone Blu-Ray player when they can get the same thing in a PS3.

You then continue on to say that stand-alone Blu-Ray players represent only 30% of the US market.

Well, if your first point is accurate (and it likely is), then that means having thirty percent of the market comprised of stand-alone Blu-Ray players is ABSOLUTELY HUGE!

I see your point, but it's not exactly the same thing:

The PS3 has been in abundant supply EVERYWHERE for seven months. For so many suppliers to deplete their long-standing stock so quickly and instantly is indeed saying something very impressive, and quite unlikely to simply be a passing fad.

On the other hand, the Elite, being a relatively brand-spanking-new SKU, is in limited supply by nature of initial manufacturing limitations, and it is therefore unsurpris...

You may want to take a peek at Sony's buffet of razzle-dazzle HD trailers from yesterday...

Because if you do, I predict that YOU'LL predict that they will NOT return to their normal, dismal, numbers. ;)
