Admittedly, I was one of those people.

To be honest, I didn't know much about steam, and it felt kinda strange to have to install an ADDITIONAL program just so I could play a game.

Felt a little too "Big Brother-ish" to me.

But now, it's turned out to be quite an interesting and useful asset.

Either that, or Big Brother finally got to me and brainwashed me to think so. ;)

but major beef is Sony's reluctance to allow the playing of my legit, REGION-FREE(!) PAL DVD's on my NTSC machine.

Kinda puts a real kink in their "All-around multimedia solution" notion.

Now gimme my dammed deserved firmware update to remedy this annoyance, Sony!!!

(The rest of this guy's gripes are rather weak and insignificant as far as I'm concerned.)

Man, you guys sure know how to make a fella feel puny & insignificant.

Here I am, relieved that I managed to avoid using up all of my many rations when beating Laughing Octopus in Normal...

...and you guys are talking about not getting killed and not having any alerts...not deaths, not damage...but ALERTS, dammit!!!...and on Extreme to boot!

Sheesh...kinda makes me want to put aside MGS4 and go rent "Barbie as the Island Princess" for my Wi...

I successfully and enjoyably played a hefty portion of the entire Metal Gear Solid game strictly via Remote Play.

Though it's not entirely applicable to all game titles, I for one am enthusiastically looking forward to full Remote Play capabilities, as I've already been using it religiously for ALL my media needs.

a few hours ago.

Upon casually browsing the games section, I noticed they were selling The Darkness for a cool $18 and change!

Having first played it (and having enjoyed it) near its release, I thought to myself, "Now THAT'S a deal!"

BTW: For those interested, this is Wal-Mart Canada

Now that's just dumb.

(oh, that silly, silly little attention-craving reviewer!)

You couldn't be more right by insinuating that there's no such thing as "perfect", but I think meepmoopmeep summed it best.

If we're to compare apples-to-apples - in an industry where a great-but-glitchy-as-Hell game like GTA4 can receive an onslaught of perfect scores...not to mention a handful of other questionable titles I'd rather remain nameless - then Metal Gear Solid, with it's unprecedented quality - equally deserves tens by any stretch of the imagination.

It's funny, y'know.

Upon getting GTA4, I was actually very much enjoying rampaging around as Mr. Bellic. (Yes, I was even one of the geeks who lined up at the bone-chilling midnight launch here in Ontario.)

However, about 25% through, I decided to temporarily shelf the game because I wanted to experience and play through the previous three MGS's before the arrival of Part 4 (I only had time to get successfully passed the first two, by the way).

Strange t...

Just a friendly heads-up to those wishing to avoid potential spoilers.

This is a very long video review (almost nine minutes), and showcases some character-specific scenes you'd probably rather experience for yourselves when playing the game.

I know I did. :(

But I will say that when racking my brain for an answer, my mind continues to revert to countless, countless memorable moments on both God of Wars and the first two MGS's.

(I've yet to tackle MGS3 and complete MGS4...but by the looks of it, they'll definitely fit into this category.)

Your absolutely right.

Which it is of MY opinion that hes' full of it.

Reading your comments, I must admit that I can't help but wonder whether you've actually played the game, or if you're talking about the same game here, or perhaps it may help if you adjust the rabbit ears on your state-of-the-art 12" B&W portable TV you're using to view the game.

A game that truly does live up to the avalanche of 10/10 ratings it's receiving, and not just fueled by hype alone like some other games.

Because this time, things will be different. ;)

Funny story.

I had managed to get through MGS1, but it looked like there was no way I was gonna be getting through MGS2 before June 12th.

Incidentally, I massively through my back about a day before launch, thereby deeming me sofa-ridden for days and allowing me to marathon through MGS2 (guilt-free since I was completely debilitated and otherwise useless anyway) and allow me to catch up with the story.

There is a God after all!

MGS3 will hav...

I'm only two hours into it, and man has it left a deep impression on me already...it had me stirring in my sleep all night as ultra-photo-realistic flashes of Snake snaking around the environment kept flooding my head.

Like NOTHING I've ever experienced before. The is truly ground-breaking, no doubt about it. It's one of those intangible, unexplainable phenomena words can never accurately relay.

Now if only I can come to full grips with the control scheme.

MGS2's Arsenal Gear "Turn off your console" scenario is the very first thing that popped into mind...more so because I'd just experienced it for the first time only two days ago.

Eerie.

(Oh that Kah-raazy Kojima!)

Honourable mention goes to just after that part, at which point you're required to destroy three Metal Gears by shooting them in the head, but the f#ckers kept repairing themselves!

I can't exaggerate how many times I lit...

Sorry if I come across as long-winded, but I've just gotta get this off my chest:

I just finally finished MGS2 late the other night, and admittedly, as much as I loved the game, the cutscenes WERE often a bit much, and sometimes overly melodramatic for my taste.

My God, how I would've given anything for a Pause feature...the hard part was trying to get my wife to understand - on a myriad of occasions - "hold on, baby...lemme just get through this important cutsc...
