I myself DL'd GTA2 (344.8MB) about a year back, and can confirm that the games are legit, and truly do work without compromise.

My bro-in-law, a long-standing die-hard fan, has it. I would definitely give it a shot since the currently one has strongly perked my interest.
The current buzz, hype and overall excitement of this game compels me to expect no less.
What does have me nodding-off at the keyboard however, are the myriad and never-ending futile system-based comparisons.

You're right...as much as I'm personally floored with this game, is does not deserve the straight tens it's been getting. Bugs are bugs, and GTA's got lots of 'em.
From a psychological standpoint, it is quite amazing what effect ...
It's ironic for me, because I had absolutely no care for the previous GTA titles. I tried them, and had no patience for all the running around that was required.
But this one...well, and sorry for the cliche, but this one IS different.
Bugs? Hell yeah. Not the absolutely most impressive or polished graphics I've seen either (albeit still great visuals).
But as far as the fun-factor is concerned, it's off the scale in my books. And the attention to d...
are the dynamics of the city and it's inhabitants.
I dare you to just goof around within the city and not be surprised by some random and ever-unique series of startling and often-amusing series of events you set off.
The most fun I've had accomplishing absolutely nothing, ever in my life!
and the game itself has thus far run absolutely flawlessly, with not even the slightest note of hesitation or freezing during the five-plus hours I've clocked in.
However, I did attempt to try multiplayer last night, only to receive a 'cannot connect' error.
And oh yeah: For some strange reason, the game does tend to become quite unstable and almost unplayable...every time I leave the bar.
Go figure.

You're assuming that your claimed 2:1 ratio necessarily applies to the rest of us.
It doesn't. For many of us, our Friends list is heavily composed of acquaintances who dwell in parts of the world where the PS3 is the console to beat.
I'm in Canada, and personally, all my 360-based friends & family members, many of whom were outright die-hards and finger-pointers this time last year, are now quietly and stealthily migrating to the PS3.

Something about what you said just doesn't make sense to me, primarily because the PS3 version not only, <ahem> "keeps up" with your arguably-beloved console, but surpasses the latter's version in many respects.
Don't try to shoehorn the scenario into a simplified black-and-white one, when it obviously isn't.
why I wasn't able to set my TV to it's native 1080i resolution (it was grayed out) when I first popped-in the game last night...
Perhaps this also explains why both the top-left instructional text, as well as the cell-phone screen were almost unusually impossible or difficult to read due to unusually excessive blurriness (the TV otherwise displays other 1080x games, as well as my Blu-ray media razor-sharp in comparison.)

Funny, the only games that EVER (and still do to this day) give me that problem are Doom and Quake...even as a teenager.
