Reviews have NOTHING to do with it. The type of people who go on Metacritic or look up reviews is insignificant. Also the game got mostly great reviews anyway with only a few trolls. The only thing that affected sales is it being the end of the generation and a complete lack of advertisement outside of the US.

God of War: Ascension is criminally underrated... even if an 80% average is still pretty good. This game deserves to be in the 85%-90% range. I can't believe that some critics deducted points for a trophy and a lot deducted points due to their lack of skill. Also most critics didn't even give the mltiplayer a chance, they just rushed their reviews and posted them online ASAP for as many hits as possible instead of waiting for the public servers to come online and give it a far chance....
If it didn't have God of War in the title it would be rated 90%+ on aggregate sites and critics would be saying shit like 'this is better than the God of War series'. Critics are just strange weird little people who are out of touch with the general consensus of real gamers. The game is great, most people agree so fuck the slimy critics giving it anything less than 8/10.
God of War: Ascension is a great game. However, no. It does not come close to the quality of God of War III. GoW3 has much better sound in terms of the actual OST and the fact it never had sync/cutting out issues, gamplay/combat was better, the camera never made things tricky to see, it had a great story and it was unbelievably epic.

This is God of War: Ascensions second week, it went from 2nd to 5th. Gears of War is normally huge in the UK, God fo War III was the only game in the series that was huge in the UK.

God of War: Ascension isn't a sales flop at all. What writers like Alex Evans forget is that only the first 2 days of sales in the UK for God of War: Ascension have been shared. It sold around 30,000 units in it's first 2 days which is bloody huge, especially for its genre. Also it didn't have an extra 4 days on sale compared to God of War III, both games launched on a Friday in the UK, I remember because I bought both games day one.

So few critics are good at their jobs. We've had some down-mark the game for a supposedly challenging section which was actually pretty easy, some complaining about a trophy taken out of context, most reviewers just won't judge the game for what it is and keep comparing it to past God of War games. If you play God of War: Ascension yourself you'd know it's a great game, anything less than a 8/10 is pure trolling, 8./10 is a fair score but I'd give it a 9/10.

Dante's Inferno is pure plagiarism which never deserves any respect, being inspired is one thing but to completely steal core mechanics, camera-work, animations, controls and pacing is just disgusting. If they waited for God of War: Ascension first full week it would be a lot higher than Tomb Raider, duh.
