This is a bit of a stupid point. The BR disks are just so much better and durable than normal DVD's that this explanation is just stupid.

If the game content is faster etc.. then OK - but less wear on the BR disk? No way. After months of playing my disks looks like new. Not a scratch. Try a credible excuse next time.

Game over. Move on.
Toshiba release good Blu Ray player and kills HD-DVD. MS reluctantly releases press release stating that with their add-on software Blu Ray can now reach its "full potential". Live goes on... without HD-DVD.

Sheesh.. this is even worse that most of us thought. I thought they could just refund you points, and you could repurchase. But I guess then some would misuse the system and just send the console back to get the same points back and just buy something else, send it back, get refunded, buy something else etc etc.

Difficult one to fix if the DRM depends on code in the XB360 itself. Removing dependency on the console itself would mean the content can get swapped - for example - I bu...

A game with all the potential to be a truly great game. No - the controls did not suck as much as the reviewers made it out to.

What really really sucked is that you were not allowed to actually play the game. The devs had this interfere as you play system that kept on stopping you in the middle of the action, changed your objectives just as you got the hang of the scene. Repeat this cycle ten times on a level it came down to every two minutes you got stopped, pointed to do somet...

Done deal. Not even MS throwing another Billion or two, making Vista HD-DVD exclusive can save it now.

It was fun... but it is over now.

Can we stop getting this approved as news now? Only story that still needs to be approved on this topic is:

- MS announces Blu Ray add-on for XB360
- MS announces Blu Ray support for next gen console
- Toshiba ends HD-DVD production

Those are the only things left to say on this HD war topic. The...

It was always expected that it would be a timed exclusive. Due to poor sales, they will most probably skip to version 7.

Come on... bring it on.

Typical flamebait article
As Home draws near to release we will see much more of this trying to downplay it. AS with Uncharted the "reviewers" came up with the Tomb Raider, Gears of War ripoff stories. Anything as long as it is not seen as new IP.

Same will be with Home. As it comes closer to release it will be hinted as being a cheap knockoff of everything - as long as it does not get recognized as a good online virtual home for a competing platform.

Sinking PS3...
It overtook XB360 in Europe, pretty much overtook total installed base in Japan in a month or two, and is closing in in the NA region. By all counts, as the heavy hitter titles gets released, the PS3 will be snapping at the Wii's heels - although no-one seriously thinks the Wii will be anywhere else but nr 1.

Everywhere the XB360 is dropping to last position in this race... and with the RRoD issue, the latest XBLive failures, using it as the benchmark for rel...

The whole industry is buzzing with HD-DVD_is_dead stories. The tide is against them. Retailers are dropping the format, publishers are dropping content... it is O-V-E-R.

The only few last ones are pointing to stories that it is loosing by less than the previous month - taking into account that the prices are not making anyone a profit - meaning it is not sustainable.

I had to get my wife an iPod for gym. Nothing else would do. She does the same what I do with my el cheapo MP3 player - actually - I do more with mine. But she *had* to have an iPod.

Live with it.

So with all the waffle about attach rates... PS3 is about to overtake software sales on XB360. And Genuine is in denial about it.

Just proofs one thing... regardless of what hardcore fans want to believe... some XB360 owners will be in fear of buying new games... it might get scratched, or cause RRoD. Well.. the 3 year warranty (effectively total recall) will ease the pain at least.

MS started out by claiming first to 10 Million in a generation wins. Well... now they...

Just add a LCD screen and make it like a portable DVD player. I would buy one.

PS3 Total sold units will most probably overtake XB360 by next year. At the current rate of growth, the PS3 will overtake the XB360 weekly NA sales by April.

Does not work with newer graphics cards on XP. Google and check out the forums. Common problem.

They tried the "first to 10 million wins" line, now they are last. Just Nintendo and Sony swapped positions this gen around. Funny that...

Cheapest lowest power won last time (PS2.. Wii)
Most powerful with HD standard came in second (Xbox.. PS3)
Middle came in last (GC.. XB360)

All in all... Nintendo just leapfrogged to lead, the other two slipped a place...

The proof of HD-DVD dying is clear now...

The die-hard fans of HD-DVD are not even trying the HD-DVD ftw comments any more. Even they gave up. No Mart and company charging to twist numbers to prove HD-DVD is winning. No more spinning of numbers by Toshiba. No press statements on HD-DVD "better value proposition" campaigns by MS. Fire sales. They gave up. Simple interpretation - even the big supporters of HD-DVD is accepting its death.

They sowed the wind, now the reap the whirlwind. IGN was very pro XB360... but I guess eventually having to send in your XB360 due to RRoD as average XB360 owner eventually gets on your nerves.

HD-DVD losing badly does not help either in this scenario. If you are a XB360 with HD-DVD owner that had to send in the XB360 for repairs more than once, have scratched disks, and now a useless dongle - then I think you would also be little edgy after a while.

There is no way that HD-DVD can look better than Blu Ray. They store digital files. The files are exactly the same. Blu Ray can not look better than HD-DVD also for that matter.

If you had any knowledge on the subject you would know it is a fable that the one looks better than the other. Copy a Word file on CD, memory stick, DVD and hard disk. Open all of them and tell me which one is better. Hint: They will be the same - the storage media can provide only two things - capacity a...
