Okay but we're looking at a period for the Switch with no major launch vs the PS4 with two (and more to come this Quarter) and it's barely holding it's ground let alone gaining the lead. So what happens when the Switch gets a mid-high level release? What happens when Animal Crossing launches? What happens when Pokemon launches?
The Switch will overtake some point this year it's only a matter of time.
No issue on my end so is this regional? Either way as long as the issue is resolved in 2-3 hours tops I'm not too fussed.
"scalebound cancellation was the last chance for you"
Platinum obviously weren't that fussed over it considering they released Nier: Automata on Xbox one. Sounds like fake news to me.
"In my opinion they should release it on Steam but charge for it on steam than the Epic store. Sure it's not great for Steam users. But this would hopefully get Valve to be competitive."
That's actually funny because EPIC are the ones charging more for games. In the UK Ashen costs more on EGS than it does on XBL, Hello neighbour cost more on EGS than it does on Steam, so how is this competition if they're not being competitive?
@Razzer
"I'm talking about the need to create accounts that SegaGamer mentions."
You're homing in on one problem and acting like it's the be all end all of the issues. We're being forced to make an account to play 3rd party games that were originally going to release on other storefronts. Metro was going to release on Steam but then EPIC paid them so we now have to pay more for the game. Ashen was going to be an Xbox Play Anywher...
That would be really cool and it's why we need the license to be open rather than chained to a single publisher.
"people that doubt sony's ability to create AAA masterpieces haven't been paying attention to the last 25 yrs."
Star Wars games before Battlefront 2015 were never AAA and they were better than anything we've had since. Also good job on reading where I said the franchise should be open to ANYONE if they bring a concept worthy of the license. If Sony CONTROLLED the franchise all we'd see is 3rd person action games with a heavy story emphasis, and sta...

"What is the difference between buying from Epic and buying from one of these other stores?"
You really aren't familiar with the PC market, are you? CD Key site usually offer far better deals than buying directly from the store. For example Nvidia and AMD usually offer keys with their cards and people who maybe dont want the game will sell them on. I managed to get Thief for £17 months before it released.
To g...
Think you missed the part where the title said "starting to focus".
I'd say that many of the studios have a team that's on average about 1-2 years into a PS5 project. Studios like ND are nearing the end of their development and as such many elements of the studio can move across to another project and move to the design and concept phase.
"The "second team" will need to pitch their project to Sony at various point of pre-...
@Razzer
"So please, cut out this hyperbole that consumers are being "knee-capped" and devs will not be held accountable anywhere."
Lol, hyperbole. Thats funny because Steams review system is better than 90% of the other options because it is the most reliable user review system on the platform. It shows me how many hours were played by the user and is very informative altogether. But you're advocating for an alternative that remove...
@Old McGroin
"I would have thought reducing their cut of the takings down from a massive 30% would be a better idea."
I thought that as well but apparently EPIC still needs to pay for devs to put the game exclusively on their store. Is that 12% share not enough to bring consumers or am I missing something?
No one. It should be open to anyone who can competently deliver a product worthy of the license.
If anything I'd rather Disney be in control of publishing over EA at this point.
@Razzer
"That is not a given. But I'm not concerned about store "features" myself in the slightest. For what? Achievements? lol.....I think I'll live."
Bit of a strawman. It's about a hell of a lot more than just achievements. So these developers just want a bigger cut of their game right? That's all they want, isn't it? Wrong. There was an interview a while back with one of the developers working on EGS and what de...
@Razzer
In the UK it's still more expensive than usual PC releases and costs just as much as the console version so this isn't entirely true. CD key sites are already selling it for £15 cheaper so I think claiming that the EPIC game store being more consumer-friendly (which all evidence so far suggests the opposite) is false.
"they have rested on their laurels for far too long."
Steam is already very different to ...
"The solution is theirs."
Pay for exclusivity rights for a different game?
"We may have an opportunity in front of us to apply our values to esports and better align those games to our values"
You can fuck right off then can't you?
I'd rather additional PvE modes that add to the variety.
"Devs have been complaining about the issues on Steam for years and Valve has done nothing about it."
They actually have with sales, reviews and the curator system. Also i wouldnt be sp quick to praise the EPIC store because there was an article a few weeks back that said one of the reasons devs are liking it was the lack of community features and review system. They like it because the community has no voice to hold people directly accountable.
...
"It doesn't benefit gamers. It benefits devs/publishers because the Epic store has way better sales cuts."
And Steam has a userbase that guarantees sales and marketing that her platforms do not. Right now EPIC store doesn't offer much outside of "buy the game here because the developers get a better cut" while offering less social features, No user reviews and no community workshop.
@Razzer
It is a monopoly in the sense that the only way to buy the game is through EPIC. They paid for their service to be the only one capable of distributing the game. That's not competition. If they wanted to make a pre order bonus for their service that isn't ideal but it's competition.
Look up the definition of monopoly because it can be applied in this circumstance. EPIC have effectively monopolized the distribution of Metro: Exodus on t...
