I think the footage you showed doesn't prove the cover system is what was implemented for the official release. Gears really was the game that showed us how to make a cover system and controls for it to be fluid. There were even things they didn't expect like wall-bouncing which is now mandatory for all Gears titles and would result in outrage from the community if the devs ever removed it.

I'm among the GP players and I can tell you I wouldn't have played it were it not for the service. I'm not that into racers but how can I turn down such a good deal of being able to play a full game without purchasing it. Might give the motorsport series a go soon.
Making 1st parties available day 1 was a very good move to improve the effectiveness of their exclusive titles.

Horizon did actually win some GOTY awards but I assume you're referring to the Game Awards Show which if we're honest isn't exactly the authority on the best game for the year. It means something but for some reason, we treat that award as more reputable than others when in reality it's on par at best. I think Horizon did win GOTY from SXSW so it definitely got at least one.

Yeah I also doubt Bungie would be able to implement an unplanned fix for it in under a week. This was likely already in the works before the Activision split. 10? Sure. Total War series (Historical and Warhammer), 8-bit armies, ARMA 3, Company of Heroes 2, Dota 2, MechWarrior Online, WildStar. World of Warships and Grey Goo.
