Personally, I picked The Evil Within because of what it could mean for the genre. However, I think I might be more "pumped" to get my hands on Dark Souls II having played in the Beta!
I sincerely hope the writers first language was not English.
Reading that article hurt my brain.
The VGX Awards undeniably have a lot of potential on paper, but they only get one chance to prove to us this is different. I'll reserve judgement until then.
A fair point moparful99, The Last Of Us is also my personal GOTY.
Though, my own interpretation of "next-gen" is a title that is not possible on the current systems, and I genuinely think DR3 is the only one - graphics withstanding.
Check out some footage for the game on youtube, I think you will find it outscales Dynasty Warriors in both quantity and diversity. Honestly, it's quite impressive!
How is this recent news? I flew over to Sydney a couple of weeks ago to cover the EB Expo, and whilst I was there I saw lots of PS4's and Xbox One's out in the open and being played. They were not locked away in any type of casing, and it was very clear that they all worked quite fine. I didn't see any overheating or error messages of any kind for either system. The only time a game was played on a PC with a controller was Titanfall and Watch Dogs. Everything else was running on t...
Fortunately, I got to play this afternoon for around 2 hours, but the online components only worked for the first 30 minutes or so. The beta test then ended an hour earlier than expected and we were told it would be re-scheduled. Single player worked fine though.
I played this game @ EB Expo last weekend. To be honest, I was really surprised at how different it is to it's predecessors - At least mechanically.
The battle system is fantastic, especially as you can actually move Lightning around/attack in realtime. Although, it still has a tactical feel instead of action. Additionally, players can customise various load-outs that can switched between instantly using L1/R1. Essentially, think combining the positive battle system eleme...
I played with both controllers a lot @ EB EXPO this weekend, and to be honest, they're both really good. So much that it's actually tough going back to the 360/PS3.
They both feel very different.
The X1 controller has completely re-designed triggers/bumpers which will take a little getting used to, but the additional rumble feedback (ie. Forza 5) is really awesome. Also, the refined shape as well as the grip on the analogue sticks work really well. Es...
I just got back from Sydney today as I flew over to cover the EB Expo, and I have to say, Microsoft really did well to change my perspective about the Xbox One.
Microsoft definitely had the best booth on the floor, and the way they treated the press was awesome. It's funny watching the video as I actually got to be in an interview with Abbie just yesterday, and she was really great as well!
Naturally, we got to play Titanfall as well, and being someone wh...
@ JoGam
I'm sorry you feel that way, and I respect where you're coming from.
To clarify, if not for the short campaign length, an average narrative and a ridiculous 1GB patch to fix some serious game breaking bugs, I would have rated it a point higher. If you see, all my reviews are based on a collection of individual scores for different categories. I don't just make up a final score, I rate each aspect individually as I write the review plan. <...
@ Joeorc
Based on the review scale for our site, I would reference this section:
6.0 - 6.5: "Games that score an overall within this range have certain positive qualities about them, but the negative may be a problem for some players. Approach cautiously."

Absolutely! Personally, I'm really keen for the Vita TV!
Although, in regards to Killzone, Shadow Fall is what I want to play most of all. It seems to be pushing the series in a new and exciting direction.
Hi MastaMold,
I don't hate the game at all, I just recommend for enthusiasts. 6.5 is not a bad score, it's just a bit of a mixed review. And of course, my own opinion as well.
I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! :)
Hi Insomnia_84!
Thank you for that feedback, I really enjoyed reading your perspective as it was quite different to my own. I'm really glad Killzone: Mercenary has an audience!
I definitely recommend to enthusiasts, and it sounds like you're having a great time with the game. Hope you continue to enjoy it as well as GTA V. :)
The best soundtrack in my opinion is from a little indie gamed called, To The Moon.
Otherwise, some other favourites come from:
- Persona 4
- Final Fantasy
- Silent Hill
- Elder Scrolls
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- Halo
- Castlevania
I disagree. This is N4G, and not his direct website.
I had a positive opinion of the game that I was expressing, and chose to include a link to my full analysis. There is nothing wrong with that.
My review is old for a start, and my site is not for profit. I have nothing to gain other than simply sharing my own perspective with other N4G users.
Also, I stated his opinion was fair. Think what you like.
I have to respectfully disagree.
To start with, there is so much more to the presentation than just graphics alone, and this game has an outstanding retro presentation with an equally intoxicating soundtrack.
If we're discussing Gameplay, the mechanics are well designed. I don't know how that can be argued, it just takes skill and practice.
I also think this particular reviewer missed the purpose of the narrative completely, and that ...
I felt exactly the same way, and it's only one of two platinum trophies I have. There was just something I really enjoyed about XIII-2.
Ryan, I appreciate what you’re trying to do here. However, if you want people to respect your writing, beginning with non-sensical bias is not a good way to progress. A good journalist would want to play and write about the game for the very same reasons you don’t want to. It’s about exploring those ideas, and the fact that this article in addition with another detailing your actual impressions would have actually made for an excellent feature article. At this point in time, this article does...
The review embargo isn't supposed to be over until several hours from now. I get the impression that these reviews were just rushed out in order to get as many views to their site before the flood of reviews happens tomorrow. Not much to see here.
I'm around 25 hours into the game so far. While it certainly has it's share of problems, there are also a lot of interesting ideas, and for that reason I'm really enjoying it. I'm under NDA still, but it's de...
