* Too many words.
Thank you for your invaluable input. :)
If is has been deemed "The One" - do you honestly think it could ever possibly live up to that kind of expectation?
I doubt it's cancelled, I just think Nomura is a perfectionist and the pressure being put on this game to be successesful is what's dragging development out. XIII & -2 were developed by a completely separate team.
I actually have more faith in Ito's team (VI, IX & XII) who are apparently 4 years into development for...
Agreed. XIII had it's mistakes, but XIII-2 was a definite improvement and a solid 4-STAR game. I too welcome XIII-3 as I know it is being developed by a different team and won't impact the other titles.
The XIII titles were directed by Motomu Toriyama. He had never directed the core FF series before besides the also controversial X-2 and tried a new approach which just didn't work. His ideas have evolved with XIII-2 and I welcome a conclusion as they have the reso...
Ito's development team has always had their time (VI, IX & XII). It's like everyone forgot these guys existed when XIII came out, and assumed Square as a whole was dead. XII showed the signs of growing into a large scale world full of life and I actually believe this could all be true.
I have respect for Numura, but he's slow and obsesses with perfection. The game was announced too soon, but it shouldn't affect any of the other projects. His game will come...
VersusXIII has always been developed separately by Nomura and a majority of the Kingdom Hearts team. It should not affect the development of the core series titles.
This article references Ito's development team who were behind VI, IX & XII. This looks to be a new core title leading as an evolution along that line of FF titles and completely separate from anything XIII.
It is something we should be happy about, as these guys have never let us down. XI...
They are all from different development teams. The development of XV and vsXIII are completely separate and have nothing to do each other. Numora taking his sweet ass time trying to achieve perfection with vsXIII is not Ito's problem, and if his game (XV) comes out first that's not his fault.
Everyone forgets this and assumed Square was going downhill with XIII forgetting there are different teams behind each of the core titles too. vsXIII being completely separate ag...
They are completely different development teams, you should think of Square more like EA. They don't have the best management at the top and some of their teams let us down, but there are some real gems amoung them too. Hiroyuki Ito's team has always produced quality games (FFVI, IX, XII & Vagrant Story), and they've not made the mistake to announce their title too soon and have the same problem on their hands as Nomura's vsXIII team.
Square has managed two different development teams for Final Fantasy a long time. It is why each entry has always been quite different, and if there is any man who can bring things back it's Hiroyuki Ito, as he has not ever been directly involved with XIII or vsXIII. We have a direct evolution of IX & XII and that is a great thing.
Just like EA (also controversial), Square has a lot of different teams and this team will bring us FF untainted by the evolutions of XIII....
I really miss Turn-Based RPGs. I don't think Turn-Based was ever an outdated convention, I think the real problem was with random battles.
I actually think XIII-2 nailed random battles on the head. Lost Odyssey was the last great turn-based game I played, if they had included a random battle system like the previously mentioned it would have modernized it a lot.
Are you guys talking about this: http://www.heroesofstalingr...
I'm not sure what RO2 is, but this is my best guess?
I honestly don't think it's changed the gaming world "that" much. The average age of game consumers this generation is 25-35 or somewhere there about, so adults in other words.
It might be a competitive issue for students and younger people, but at the end of the day if it's a game I really enjoy I find achievements/trophy's satisfying and it gives me more to do and something extra to talk about with my mates who are also playing. If it's a game ...
I'll give you a rough idea as someone from Western Australia. Our minimum wage is around 35K and the average cost of rent in Perth is $400.00 - $450.00 per week. We have a lot of people on a boom from the mining that earn ridiculous money (80K+), but it's hardly the majority. Most of us sit within that $40k - $60K mark.
The RRP for "Next Generation" games when they first started being sold in Australia was $119.00 AUD. That's not to mention the 360 was $650.00 and the PS3 60GB was $999.00 - Also take into account that our currency value is almost the same as the US too.
It's getting a lot more competitive now that people are moving to online shopping, so the standard price in stores is around $79.00 now.
However, a lot of us still just buy online. Places li...
I can appreciate why so many fan's are frustrated, and I agree the series definitely took a wrong turn when Enix came on board. However, I also think it's a clear case of "haters gonna hate" and feel a lot of what's said is not entirely fair. I was very dissapointed when XIII-2 was announced; though having "actually" played it now I admit I was just being an arrogant dick. The game was rather good, and i'd actually rate it as the best entry since FFX.
They're also missing Just Cause 2. That is honestly the most underrated open world game of this generation. It has it's faults, but not many games are that fun.
I'm surprised not to see Silent Hill at the top of the list. Thats normally the cliche for these articles, and i'd have to agree.

***SPOILER*** He was made an immortal when Etro gave him her heart. This happened when he was the guardian of Yeul in Padra during the war of trangression.
I have to admit I was a bit of a hater when I heard about XIII-2. Having finally gotten around to actually playing it, I have to humbly admit I was just being a dick. It was actually rather good, and I think i'd actually rate it as the best entry since FFX.

I wouldn't call The Dark Knight Rises realistic, but the moral depth brought to the fantasy opposed to the lines of The Avengers (which also is great!) really sets itself and the rest of the trilogy apart from most movies in the genre.
I think games which use the story as the core component of the experience really excel when they use compelling writing that puts the player in unexpected and intriguing scenarios and its the choice of how to handle them that sets these gam...
