My understanding is that the delay was to ensure the base version of the game on the disc is something they're happy with, so that even those without internet, or who can't easily download a patch, get a good enough version.
There was always going to be a day one patch, as they'll be working on it up to the last second before launch and beyond. My guess is the previous version would have been broken without a patch, and that was not good enough.
It takes a long time to play through three games and all the DLC to do it properly.
Everyone can relax about RE7 now.

The bin.
Before everyone goes hating the Pope, read first. It's a click bait title. He never directly targeted video games.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4.
Yeah, that's right. Although, my comment was directed at the blurb text. – "last year's PT. "
P.T. was actually two years ago (August 2014.)
I'm surprised to not see any mention of RE: Revelations 2. It's much more in line with the classic RE games.
I've played the RE7 demo a bunch, and I am thoroughly thrilled with what they're trying. A bold direction worked for RE4, so I have faith that trying something new again is for the best. There will also almost certainly be a Revelations 3 too.
I don't agree. But an opinion is just that. Video games are a subjective medium, so I'm sure it's what's true for this writer.
A word of advice, though. If you wrote a solid article, you shouldn't have to be in the comments defending it. Just stick to your guns. Otherwise, learn from the comments and see how you can better your approach for your next opinion piece.
Debating your point in the comments is one of the worst things you can ...
"The game follows the story of William, loosely based upon William Adams, a blond-haired Samurai and son of a Japanese lord and a Western woman during the Warring States period in 17th-century Japan."

I felt suffocated most of the time in Max Payne 3.
It has plenty of positive qualities, but the game design is archaic. It continuously traps the player in a restricted space and forces you to shoot to the last man in order to progress.
I had the same issues trying to replay Gears of War Ultimate Edition. Not for me anymore.
I'm the Editor, and I can confirm that's exactly how it went down.
Except for the fact that we're a not-for-profit with zero ads, and also that I had two writers playing the game – the second of which who was even more critical of it.
It's not like you visited the site to check anyway, but thanks for the laugh. :)
More ads than content. No thanks.
Yes.
Constructive criticsm only helps to better our industry. Sorry you feel that way.
Sorry, but GameCloud is a not for profit website. It's a perspective, not click bait.
I picked up an Original Xbox display unit off of eBay a few years back.
