This is silly and really doesn't mean anything. The early adopters are always going to be the first to buy a system, but their actions aren't indicative of how a product will sale overall. Sony is just trying to gather hype. When the Wii, DS, Xbox360 came out they sold over 200 units in a short period of time.

Now we know why BLU-RAY has been having record sales, there are no games!!! I counted about 2 on the list. The sad part is if you combine the sales of the PS2 and PS3 they barely beat the Xbox360.

Well can you blame them; it’s hard to justify paying 600 dollars for a toy. So you have to make it sound more useful.

This is completely silly. Microsoft should break Vista in order for Google’s program to work?

The race is much closer than you think.

Indeed gamers most gamers are aware of new technology available and yes PS3 users are pushing BLU-RAY. However movies aren’t going to meet every gamer’s agenda and you have several categories of PS3 owners to consider.

Categories to consider:
There are many gamers too occupied with playing games, to do anything else other than play games (I’m surprised they find time to eat or have girlfriends).

Then you also have to take account for the gamers who mod...

Bladestar is totally right, mixing the gaming and movie console together makes it very hard from anyone to get any legitimate data. One thing we do know for a fact is that not everyone that purchased a PS3 will buy BLU-RAY movies. Now distinguishing the percentage of which will buy and which won’t buy is almost impossible to do. Sony knows this and has used it as part of there strategy to sale BLU-RAY.

On the same note if you looked at standalone players HD-DVD has the lead. S...

It’s funny that people are complaining that the PS3 weren’t included in the figures. When Toshiba floods the market with HD-DVD players in laptops I’m sure those same people will be the same ones arguing that it’s unfair to count the Toshiba laptops as players.

All in all you can only take these articles with a grain of salt; you can change the reports to capture certain data to make anything look good.

94% BLU-RAY sales are from the PS3, to any investor or analyst that type of percentage should be alarming. While it’s great that PS3 has sold a lot of BLU-RAY movie players, it doesn’t guarantee that consumers who own a PS3 will buy a significant amount of movies (To many the PS3 is a game console first and an HD movie player second). For those that don’t agree please answer these questions:
• Once the PS3’s AAA titles hit will that affect BLU-RAY movie sales?
• Is it really id...

I don’t think this story was to keep the rumor going but only to state the obvious. That the words used to say the Xbox360 isn’t getting FF were so ambiguous that you can only take what was said with a grain of salt. Too sum it all up, basically if FF can improve sales of the PS3 and they can make money they see no need to put FF on the Xbox360. On the other hand if FF can help by moving enough PS3 to generate a profit the company they will developed for the Xbox360. Just simple business not ...

This isn’t too surprising being that Sony is the 4th largest shareholder for Square Enix. So one would think Square Enix has some vested interest in insuring the PS3’s success; letting FF go to the Xbox360 surely not help with that goal. I’m just surprised it took them so long to announce this.

You would think the people in Sony would coordinate things and talk to one another. I know they are a big company and all, but there is no excuse (unless we all have it wrong and Sony’s one and only goal is to make BLURAY succeed, even if it sinks the PS3).

To me it seems BLURAY has hurt the PS3 more than it has helped, higher system cost, specification debates leading to the delay of the PS3, and part shortages that further delayed the PS3 and DEVKITS (While more spaces is al...

It’s known that there are some Killer PS3 games coming out and on the same note the Xbox360 also has a list of Killer games coming out. While we can sit and debate all day long over which games are better and for what system, it doesn’t matter because in the end certain games will appeal to certain gamers and they will buy the game for that system. This still doesn’t change the fact that Microsoft will be releasing titles to compete with almost every title Sony releases (if the title is good...

I'm sorry but the Wii doesn't really have any games, so I'm at a lost of what they are focusing on. Other than great price Wii and the controler being inovative.

If the fanboys really want to help the PS3, fanboys should be petitioning for a lower price and rallying there fanboy base to buy more PS3’s.

Just stupid, who cares what system gets what games.

Agreed this is one of the best comments I’ve seen. Wish more people would be insightful enough to put together a well constructed thought, without letting there fanboy bias get in the way.

Comment on Killzone 2:

All this hype of Killzone2 and all anyone has seen was the CGI trailer, not to say the first Killzone wasn’t the greatest game. Don’t get me wrong the CGI was nice but, it doesn’t say the game is going to be good (Bomerman Xbox360:
