"only on new tracks and premium cars. Also near 1080p is pointless is you get low framerate and screen tearing."
Referring to most of the reviews - there is hardly any screen tearing and the framerate is solid 60fps. The non-premium cars look close to those in other games and the premiums far superior.
"physics and car handling system in FM3 is the most advanced"
I am not talking about your or mine point of view - its about the reviews, and...
Pretty simple
Graphics + Car modelling
Physics, car handling
Content (number of tracks, cars)
Variety of content (Nascar, Karts, Rally)
Features (Track editor, weather)
Damage modelling
AI
If you are scoring GT5 less than Forza 3, state which of these aspects is inferior in GT5 versus Forza 3.
Thats why IGN's review is so interesting - because it gives segment scores, and makes the bias obvious.
Dont click on the article. Its flamebait, looking for clicks.
Online features - most reviewers havent played the online, so that cant be a reason for scoring low. Though I am sure Forza online is better, its an arcade sim more focussed on painting your car than racing
Career mode - maybe it has not changed much is because its pretty satisfactory to begin with. Has halo changed gameplay in 10 years? Is that a negative?
- Forza ALL 400 cars look average. GT5 800 cars look average, but in higher 1080p resolution, and 200 l...
Well put.
GT5 is being scored as a sim-arcade like Forza. Most of the 8/10 reviews admit that GT5 is by far the best simulator around and has massive content but score it low for things like User-interface. The message is - if you liked GT or cars, you will love GT5. If Burnout or Forza is all you are interested in, maybe not.
Any critic who feels GT5 is inferior to Forza 3 should need to give a segment breakup of scores
Graphics
Car models
Physics
Content (cars, tracks)
Features (weather, track editor, etc)
AI
Damage modelling
Variations (nascar, rally, karts)
The only areas where Forza would come close or be better is possibly AI and damage.
If you give segment scores, its easier to be caught in your BS - like IGN, w...
So Forza 3 has equally good graphics and better “lasting appeal” than GT5? Interesting.
I"t's a true simulation...I think that GT5 is great at what it does."
The review essentially judges GT5 by the standards of the PGR, Forzas and Burnouts - a game is supposed to be arcadey like these other "racing" games.
So, even though GT5 is far superior in every aspect to other racing games, it gets knocked down for being perfect at what it is supposed to be - a simulator. Its like scoring down Killzone 2 or Demon's souls for not playin...
GT5 offers better graphics (1080p), far superior car modelling at least on the premium cars, revamped physics engione and engine sounds, better damage modelling, weather, nascar/karts/rally
Thats "refinement?" How much did Forza 2/3 or PGR 3/4 add to their previous iterations, I wonder?
Why is it just PS3 exclusives that have to "jump out from behind a tyre wall and surprise you?"
Interesting
The review admits that the racing mechainics, physics, cars, content is unrivalled
Yet he starts off and spends 2 paragraphs on...wait for it...the user interface!
Seriously?
Cons
"- graphics
- weather system "
Which other racing game has comparable graphics or weather?
Imagine Demon's souls with a "rewind" feature. Some games are meant to be challenging.
Well, that same Sony guy created the PS1 and PS2 and he also said that the 360 was XBOX 1.5 - comparing Halo to Killzone or Forza to GT5, turns out he was right.
And goes back to the original question - where are the hardcore games? So its a gimmicky toy that appeals to kids and women and would sell well to them with $500m marketing. We knew that already.
I hope they come out with Splinter Cell HD soon. I peersonally liked Splinter cell: conviction, when I was being stealthy, but it was too tempting to start shooting. Playing Chaos theory would be nice in hd, never completed that game.
You must have played Uncharted 2 and resistance 2 a lot then?
MAG and KZ2 competitive multiplayer have a bit of a co-op feel to them, maybe because of the emphasis on squads and teamwork
Is Halo better than CoD?
Is cholera better than Syphillis?
Difficult questions.
Halo 1 maybe, for nostalgia reasons and because it genuinely was the best and most creative shooter on consoles at that time (although it did follow Goldeneye) - but Halo 3?
And Killzone 2 is far superior to MCoD:MW
Edge gave Balck Ops a 7 for the following flaws, but it just sums up whats wrong with CoD:MW 1 and 2:
"The enemies are the same mob of dummies seen in many CODs before. The environments have changed but the furniture remains present, ...
Absolutely. In any serious racing sport, such as F1, you see at least half a dozen serious crashes in every race with players banging into walls, cars getting smashed up and broken. Thats why F1 teams need about 40 drivers for each season, the attrition rates are so high.
Keeps the house warm.
Quality time with family as Live and/or the console will probably crash during xmas anyway
The xbox encourages you to get some exercise than to throw around your arms and leg in front of the console. You can buy even kinect and the xbox will track your movements with a 30-second delay, isn’t that cool?
Have you ever been in the top 1% of anything? Well, here is your chance – you would be among the most intelligent people...
Forza pros
Better user-interface
More car-painting and customisation (the non-racing part of a racing game)
Better AI (probably)
Forza cons
Half the cars
720p
Inferior physics model
No Nascar, rally, karts, weather
Last-gen damage modelling
Inferior car models
Yes, I can see why Forza is king. Half the game, half the physics, half the resolution, half the features = better game.
