The controls are not great, but pretty ok, doesnt detract from the game at all.

At least thats a bit like the original Deus Ex, that went on so long it was more like 2 games. Though the quality of Deus Ex 1 was pretty consistent as well, if they can match that....
I hope this is a good replacement for my MAG fix. Online is what they have to get right, single-player is just a bonus.

So, a game company A makes a console which is based on 10-year old tech, and makes a huge profit. It spends hardly anything on a decent online network, and its games are mostly shovelware or copies of last gen franchises, with no innovations in story, gameplay, etc
Game company B makes a cutting edge gaming console, with a much lower profit margin, has a free and well built online network, blu-ray, has developed some really cool new game franchises and pushed the boundaries ...
Spot on. Cant see the fuss about KZ, its just like CoD/Halo, just with much better graphics, slower and more tactical shooting mechanics, cover, the coolest enemies in any FPS ever, much better AI, and a completely different team-based multiplayer setup. Hardly any difference.
Even if the cutscenes were long, the gameplay was worth it. Few stealth games around anyway.

You are right, Uncharted is nothing like Gears because it so much superior
For one, as you pointed out, Uncharted has far more variety, puzzle solving and platforming and stealth aspects as well
It has much more color and better environments, while Gears is flat and grey
The story - no comparison
No bugs, host lag and unbalanced weapons in Uncharted, people actually use more than one weapon
But you know what struck me when I first played Gears?...

Gt5 is the only rcing sim on consoles the others are arvade sims like forza with laughable physics and car models so its both the best and worst sim
