Yup, since the One S and Scorpio can allow 100GB disc capacity since they include a 4K drive capable of such while PS3 and PS4 share a standard Blu-Ray drive allowing 50GB disc capacities.

Oh sorry. I guess that was the opposite of what you were saying.

The 6 nor Note 5 have an IR Blaster either. Most companies are removing them to cut costs.

Not much different than this situation.

@EnigmaSG1: That is absolutely false. Neither PS3 nor PS4 support BD-XL or UHD Blu-Ray. Both technologies allow 100GB as a capacity.

"The Blu-ray reader gets a decent enough upgrade from PS3's 2x drive, moving up to a 6x CAV (constant angular velocity) design, meaning maximum read speeds of around 27MB/s - though throughput will lower according to the area of the disc being read. The spec appears to be a very close match for the standard BD drives Sony itself curre...

So are your PS4 games on disc as pointless as you claim a 4K drive is?

Cause ya know, PS4, PS3, and Xbox One use Blu-Ray discs as their physical delivery method. I'm sure devs having twice the space to use for games would also be pointless though, as your data suggests about a relatively new product that so far has seen 4K movies and streaming.

The iPhone 7 includes a lightning to 3.5mm adapter. It's also $9 to get a new one if you please. Meaning you have the option to use regular headphones out of the box with iPhone 7.

Sony has no option available for 4K physical media. Also if Sony removed the Blu-Ray drive you'd be forced into all digital content and have PS4 games that then would be completely useless.

Why would it have to be $450? The Xbox One S sports a 4K drive and starts at $299. The price was also $299 before the S.

What stops game developers from putting gaming content on a 4K Blu-Ray disc? 4K discs also sport twice the capacity of standard Blu-Ray discs the PS4 currently allows. For Pro and Scorpio a 4K drive would be more beneficial all around.

1) Scorpio will be more powerful and capable than Pro. This literally isn't a question anymore. The existing CPU in the Xbox One already outpaces the PS4s. The GPU in Scorpio will be 6 TFlops. The Pro at 4.2 TFlops. That is roughly 30% more for Scorpio over Pro. Further physical media on Xbox One S and Scorpio will have a read capacity of 100GB since both will feature UHD drives versus 50GB PS4 Pro, slim, OG PS4, and PS3 read capacity as all feature a standard Blu-Ray drive. That opens th...

There is zero confirmation that Pro will play all codecs involved in 4K. Everything has said streaming only.

Also the statement would stand. Pro will not support 4K physical media.

The content stored on USB is digital, not physical. Thus why you'd need content to add to USB digitally available to you.

It's a bad thing because disc capacity could have been doubled for games, allowing 100GB of data to be stored on a disc rather than the current 50GB. That would mean more packed onto the disc and less to download.

It's also a bad thing because people seem to be forgetting PS4, PS3, and Xbox One games already use Blu-Ray. Meaning the 4K drive could be used for more than movies.

Scorpio and Pro in particular could benefit from a 4K capable drive by ...

Except for the iPhone 7 has an adapter that runs into the lightning cable slot that adds a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Then if you don't want that there's the option of Bluetooth or AirPods.

The PS4 won't have an option available to play physical 4K media.

3534d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

So gamers then don't want the possibility of more content on disc?

The current PS4 allows for 50GB Blu-Ray discs. A UHD drive would allow up to 100GB Blu-Ray discs.

If you bought digital before you can download at no cost. If you have the disc version just pop it in.

If you still have it you can play at no cost on Xbox One. What part of that is a double dip?

I think it will. Too many people want it plus Bethesda seem more suited to Windows platforms.

I also think the only reason Xbox One hasn't seen an updated San Andreas is it will also join BC.

I want to wait for Scorpio but these deals on the One S have been great. I have a 1TB Xbox One right now but the S looks better all around.

I also do wonder if Microsoft may get Scorpio out earlier with Pro coming so soon plus NX in March.

Before people keep going on about "niche" consider this.

Why should Sony have not added a 4K Blu-Ray player to at least the Pro? Currently PS4 and Slim will allow PS4 discs to have a 50GB capacity. By allowing 4K Blu-Ray players the disc capacity could have increased to 100GB for physical game releases. That would also add support for physical 4K content.

Considering the benefits I do think Sony should have opted to add a 4K Blu-Ray players to b...

That's because some companies are attempting to convince others that paying again for a title like "remaster" or "rebuilt" is the better way to go... Toward lining their pockets.

They dont want people affiliating the camera with watching you. Even though the TOS tells you it watches you.

EDIT: Part of that is a joke people. Eyes are affiliated with watching or seeing. Camera suggests images or video recording. Changing the name could change perception of the device. Also, the TOS does include terms similar to those of Kinect for both PS Eye and PS Camera.

Good stuff. Good to see Activision supporting BC so much and the Call of Duty brand getting closer to a full presence on Xbox One.

Now get on Black Ops 2! It's the highest requested title for BC, leading Skyrim by nearly 25k votes.

"It's been rumored for months that Breath of the Wild had been delayed until next year in order to launch in tandem with Nintendo's new console — that being said, there was never any proof. It made sense, but without official word from Nintendo, there was no way to confirm or deny if that was the case. However, in an interview with IGN, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed what so many fans had already assumed: th...
