Digital sales continue to rise and physical sales continue to decline though. Plus this Xbox isn’t requiring you to stream everything. It does have a HDD for storage purposes so really for some it’d already be what they’re dealing with. With digital trends the way they are I’d imagine “some” to be an understatement.

Xbox One S would still provide 4K content at a lower price point than really anything else on the market. PS4 isn’t capable of 4K playback at its base model nor the slim. Switch also does not offer 4K.

Ironically also a PC capable of 4K playback would definitely cost more than Xbox One S which has a MSRP of $249. Most 4K capable streaming devices start around that ballpark.

Not to mention Microsoft hasn’t required users to have Xbox Live to use streaming ...

Well of course they didn’t if they didn’t even bother to create it themselves. They essentially let hackers and tinkerers to do that part for them at no cost on the basis that it’s open source.

They were hoping to maximize profits on day one and all around the product has fallen flat.

Sony didn’t even create the emulator. They ripped off an open source project.

That’s downright damage control right there.

The MSRP of PlayStation Classic was ignored so fast it shows what nostalgia gained the product. Not to mention again PS hardcore here flat out say those “old games” don’t do anything for them even being available on PS4 with potential upgrades.

If they don’t want that why would they want a device locked to certain titles for a flat out asinine price with no upgrades that were even available with the last gen PS...

You’re kidding right? Most places have the Classic marked down by over half of the original MSRP.

2651d ago 10 agree3 disagreeView comment

And we’ve never really had mid gen upgrades, particularly with as big of a leap as going from Xbox One to Xbox One X. Typical would be going from Xbox One to possibly Xbox One S.

@rainslacker: “You make assumptions that it will be digital with nothing other than one case of the CD Diode not being included in the PS4's laser assembly”
Uh, where once did I say anything about digital only? The Blu-Ray diode will likely still be present for PS4/PS5 games. PS3 games will likely remain a pain. However if Sony includes backwards compatibility for PSOne they either have to include in a diode they chose to leave out to keep costs lower or they can offer digital on...

@Razzer: Yeah, right? The removal of the CD diode to cut costs over having more functionality with the current console definitely holds no relevance to the next console. /s

Plus PlayStation fans such as yourself have been going on about not needing “old content”, even disregarding the fact PS4 has no CD diode for physical CD playback. The same CDs that PSOne titles were pressed on. Further DVD wasn’t available on PS4 out of the box showing how much priority they put on DVD....

“Yeah yeah down vote buy the platform your Friends are on or make new ones. Stop trying to force nonsense on everyone because its what you want.”

Intriguing. Is Sony then not forcing you to buy a console specific to their brand to play with friends? Even better aren’t you forcing the “nonsense” that nobody wants crossplay?

Stop trying to segregate gamers from other gamers and friends from friends for nothing more than potential corporate gain. I’d also im...

If PS4 is any indication this is likely not for disc based support. PS4 chose to eliminate out the CD diode in its Blu-Ray drive resulting in no possibility of PSOne disc based compatibility. DVD support was also an afterthought on PS4, not added until after launch.

Catherine: Full Body is not on Xbox One. The Xbox 360 version of Catherine is backwards compatible on Xbox One though.

@isarai: I’ve long speculated that the mystery port was going to be used for accessories but when the Vita failed to take off accessories were axed.

I’d imagine it was originally intended for such uses as an external UMD reader or proprietary video and audio out(the memory cards were already proprietary).

Bluetooth does not instantly add drivers for all devices. Sony does not provide drivers on third party devices.

Thus the need for things such as Xinput and SixAxis.

2665d ago 5 agree2 disagreeView comment

Uh, no. To use a PS4 or PS3 controller on Android you would need third party apps like SixAxis. Sony has not and likely will not add first party drivers. Yes, they will sync but try the functionality without a third party app.

PS3 controllers in particular are quite janky on most outside devices.

Incorrect. The Xbox One S is capable of 4K video playback and HDR. The OG Xbox One does not. So it is possible that a firmware update could have benefits for the One S as well.

@Teflon02: Then please explain the one week timed exclusivity deal Sony has with Activision involving Call of Duty. A currently active deal with the same publisher for timed exclusive content.

That’s actually facepalm worthy too. If Naughty Dog didn’t sell the IP to Vivendi who were the second IP holders that would say Naughty Dog has zero rights to Crash Bandicoot as well. Again, Universal Interactive Studios held the rights to the IP.

Universal Interactive Studios merged with Vivendi transferring ownership of Crash Bandicoot
Vivendi later merged with Activision giving Activision rights to the IP
Thus why the trilogy came from Activision

2668d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

Crash and Spyro were never Sony games.

Universal Interactive Studios owned Naughty Dog as a backlot studio until 2001. Naughty Dog had already finished the Crash Bandicoot series before being bought out by Sony. Rights to Crash remained with Universal until they merged with Vivendi who merged with Activision.
