Unfortunately, yes.
The manually updating status has. This isn't that. It's an automatic feed that gets sent to your status upon purchasing content or getting a trophy, etc., along with an upgraded version of manually updating your status.
Users haven't been crying for that since day 1. They wanted In-Game XMB the most. Then it was a revamped store, THEN this. All PS3 owners do is move down the list of things they want and continuously beg for it until it comes.
The only thing I wanted really bad was in-game XMB. X-game chat is just a plus.
I haven't checked yet, but you would have to download it on XBL for it to work, so I think you can avoid it. As for on PSN, they give you the option to shut everything off and not update anything. So I think it's all optional.
By now, I already have Facebook implemented into my brain. I just update my status from there.
You can update your status ANYWHERE now! Anyway, while both are nice, I can see the PSN's update when you get a trophy and download stuff to be more useful than anything else. Even updating your status manually.
You do know that the integration in XBL and the integration on PSN is different, right?
XBL gives you access to your friends' status and photos, (not sure about vids), and lets you update the status, accept friends, etc.
PSN gives you access to your friends' status, photos, videos, etc., let's you update your own status and sends automatic updates when you buy a game, get a trophy, etc.
How is PSN doing it poorly? They're the ones giving you more options...
You seem to believe in the sites that down the PS3 whenever they do. I'm sure that when they don't, I'd be hearing you say "COMPLETE BULLSH*T" once again...
If I asked you to admit that there have been games that look and perform better on the PS3, you would probably either deny any, or gather up lackluster games to make it seem like the game quality is worse.
I can name a list of games that look better on 360 if you'd like. What I think you fail to realize...

I wouldn't even care if it's still the 32% that MS admitted to way back in 2007... a failure rate that high isn't acceptable.

How is that backing it up? Facebook has always been on the PS3. Netflix was something that was on other platforms. Cross game chat is something that will only be made possible because the users demand it.
And how would MS be the ones to cause Sony to slim the PS3? What would be the reasoning for when they did it to the PS1? PS2? PSP? It's part of their whole longevity cycle.
If you think they were copying XBL, what did you think when the Xbox was released? With 4 sho...
We can tell you it will sell 10 million the first 30 seconds..... whatever helps you sleep at night. Since, apparently it's not a good game that will. You could've been happy with a 9, but you write about it making millions as if it's more important.
